Ryu Ishigori is one of the players in the Culling Game, with the Sendai Colony as his domain. He is a reincarnated sorcerer from the past and forms one corner of the intense four way deadlock within the Sendai barrier. His current score stands at 77 points. It is believed that this is his first reincarnation.
Appearance and Personality
■Appearance
Ryu Ishigori is a young man characterized by his pompadour hairstyle resembling a cannon barrel. He wears a fur lined leather jacket over his bare upper body.
He originally lived around 400 years ago during the Edo period, roughly the same era as Hajime Kashimo. His current hairstyle and fashion are thought to reflect the preferences of the body he reincarnated into.

■Personality
Ryu Ishigori has a distinctive way of thinking, often comparing situations to sweets, suggesting he has a strong liking for sugary foods. Words like “sweet” frequently appear in his speech.
He also shows a strong attachment to food, frequently likening battles to meals or desserts.
He expresses great excitement when facing strong opponents. In particular, he shows high regard for Yuta Okkotsu, whom he considers a worthy rival. During their clashes, he becomes visibly thrilled, exclaiming phrases such as “SWEET! That’s what I’m talking about, Okkotsu!” as he enjoys the intensity of their fight.
Ryu describes his first life as being “eighty percent full,” suggesting he was mostly satisfied. However, he was driven by an unexplained sense of “hunger” or “thirst,” which led him to reincarnate and participate in the Culling Game.
This outlook puts him in direct opposition to Takako Uro, who clings to her second life due to regrets from her past.
Ryu is extremely bold and emotionally detached. He does not hesitate to attack both sorcerers and non sorcerers, as reflected in his high score. While he does not intentionally target civilians, he shows no concern if they are caught in the crossfire of his attacks.
Ultimately, his actions are driven solely by his desire to satisfy his inner craving.
Background

Ryu Ishigori was a sorcerer from approximately 400 years ago in the early Edo period and was affiliated with the Sendai Domain in Mutsu Province.
He was renowned for having the highest cursed energy output in the domain’s history, earning him the nickname “Cannon” and widespread recognition across the country. He was also known to be a heavy smoker even during his lifetime.
In 1615, the Keicho Embassy sent by Date Masamune visited Saint Tropez in France. It is possible that Ishigori heard fragments of French language and culture from individuals connected to this mission.
Although he lived in the same era as Hajime Kashimo, the two never crossed paths. Kashimo had already reached old age, and they were located far from each other.
While Kashimo lived during a turbulent era of warfare, Ishigori reached his peak during a relatively peaceful time under the Tokugawa shogunate, leaving his immense power without a true outlet.
Abilities
Ryu Ishigori boasts the greatest cursed energy output among all participants in the Culling Game, including Yuta Okkotsu. He is often described as a “cannon,” reflecting the overwhelming power of his attacks. While Yuta surpasses him in total cursed energy, Ishigori exceeds him in output.
Beyond his signature ranged attacks, his physical combat ability is equally formidable. By leveraging his immense cursed energy output and explosive speed, he demonstrates extraordinary strength and durability. He is powerful enough to punch away Rika in her fully manifested state and resilient enough to withstand her attacks head on while immediately counterattacking.
In terms of raw hand to hand combat and cursed energy output, he even surpasses the maximum output of Yuta Okkotsu when connected to Rika.
Given that he fought on equal or superior footing against Yuta, he can be considered a sorcerer of at least Grade 1 level, with the potential to reach Special Grade. Based on modern Jujutsu High standards, he would most likely be classified as a Grade 1 sorcerer.

Ryu Ishigori
■Cursed Technique
Cursed Energy Discharge
Ryu Ishigori’s ability is essentially pure cursed energy manipulation rather than a distinct innate technique. In theory, this is something any sorcerer could perform with sufficient cursed energy and output.
However, this simplicity is precisely what makes it unique. Even if his cursed technique becomes unusable, he can maintain the same level of performance purely through output. This allows him to continue fighting at full strength even after using Domain Expansion, when most sorcerers suffer technique burnout.
Despite having such a straightforward ability, he possesses exceptional understanding and control over cursed energy, enabling him to construct a Domain Expansion, something that typically requires a highly refined technique and precise mental imagery.
Granite Blast
Granite Blast is his signature attack, in which he fires a powerful blast of cursed energy from the tip of his pompadour.
This attack has a wide range and immense destructive power. It can take multiple forms, including a massive beam, homing projectiles, and rapid multi shot bursts similar to flares. Because his head functions like a fixed cannon, he can seamlessly transition into close combat even while firing.
Although similar effects can be replicated through standard cursed energy manipulation, using it without a technique reduces its power.
The destructive force of Granite Blast is immense, capable of carving through roads and obliterating buildings in a single shot. It is stated to surpass even Yuta Okkotsu’s maximum output when connected to Rika, and in direct clashes, Ishigori’s attacks have overwhelmed Yuta.
Domain Expansion
Ryu Ishigori is capable of using Domain Expansion, with his hand sign being associated with the Peacock King mudra.
However, the full details of his domain remain unknown. During the three way battle against Yuta Okkotsu and Takako Uro, his Domain Expansion failed to activate due to interference from Kurourushi’s offspring.
Role in the Story
■Sendai Colony Battle
Ryu Ishigori played a central role in the deadlock within the Sendai Colony, alongside Dhruv Lakdawalla and Takako Uro.
After Yuta Okkotsu broke the stalemate by exorcising Kurourushi, Ishigori became fixated on him. During the ensuing three way battle between Ishigori, Uro, and Yuta, he experienced immense excitement as Yuta pushed him to his limits and even overwhelmed him at times.
At one point, all three fighters attempted to activate Domain Expansion simultaneously to decisively defeat one another. However, the attempt failed due to Kurourushi’s sudden reappearance.
Despite this, Ishigori used Granite Blast to knock Uro unconscious and proceeded to face Yuta in a final showdown after Yuta defeated Kurourushi once again.
Through this battle, Ishigori came to view his fight with Yuta as the “dessert” he had never experienced in his previous life. After an intense clash, he reached a sense of fulfillment, describing himself as “full,” and was ultimately defeated with a satisfied expression.
Due to a rule added during the Culling Game, both Ishigori and Uro survived by transferring their points to Yuta. Upon learning that they would have been killed otherwise, Ishigori reacted with visible disbelief.
