■Heavenly Restriction
As a trade-off for his severely debilitated physical body, Ultimate Mechamaru has gained an extensive technique range and a cursed energy output that exceeds his natural abilities. Thanks to this, despite being a puppet, he possesses exceptional combat capabilities.

■Puppet Manipulation (傀儡操術, Kairai Sōjutsu)
A Cursed Technique that allows the user to manipulate puppets remotely. This technique is the same as that of Masamichi Yaga, the principal of Tokyo Jujutsu High.

Due to the Heavenly Restriction, Kokichi Muta's real body is extremely fragile, to the extent that he cannot even be exposed to sunlight. However, as compensation, his Puppet Manipulation ability is greatly enhanced, allowing him to control puppets across the entirety of Japan.

Ultimate Mechamaru’s True Identity & Real Name

In Episode 30 of the anime, it was revealed that Ultimate Mechamaru’s real name is Kokichi Muta (与 幸吉, Muta Kōkichi).

Kokichi Muta was born with a severe congenital condition that left him:
- Missing his right arm and both legs from the knees down
- Unable to feel anything from the waist down
- With skin so fragile that even moonlight could burn him
- In constant pain, as if needles were piercing his entire body

As compensation for these limitations, he was granted immense cursed energy and an extraordinarily vast technique range through a Heavenly Restriction. Using this power, he remotely controls the humanoid puppet, Ultimate Mechamaru, for combat, communication, and daily interactions.

However, this ability was never something Kokichi wished for. He once stated:

"If I could give it up for a normal body, I’d do it in a heartbeat."

According to the official fanbook, a sorcerer of Kokichi’s level of cursed energy output would normally need to be physically close to the puppet to maintain control. However, due to his Heavenly Restriction, Kokichi possesses a massively extended range, allowing him to operate Ultimate Mechamaru remotely from great distances without losing power.

Although he interacts with his Kyoto Jujutsu High classmates through his puppet, he has built strong and meaningful relationships with them. His greatest dream is that if he were ever to regain a healthy body, he would meet his fellow sorcerers in person.

Ultimate Mechamaru’s Key Scenes in the Anime

■Kyoto Goodwill Event Arc
During the Kyoto Sister School Exchange Event, Ultimate Mechamaru faced off against Panda in a fierce battle. Mechamaru’s techniques were all powerful, showcasing a wide arsenal of attacks. Given that Mechamaru is ranked as a Semi-Grade 1 Sorcerer, while Panda is only Grade 2, one would expect Mechamaru to have the upper hand in this fight.

However, despite the difference in rank, Panda emerged victorious. According to Panda, Mechamaru’s fatal mistake was underestimating the nature of puppets. Kokichi assumed Panda was just a typical Cursed Corpse, failing to realize that Panda is a Mutated Cursed Corpse with three separate cores. This led to Panda tricking him by shifting his core’s position, allowing him to land a decisive counterattack that ended the fight in Panda’s favor.

■Spy for the Cursed Spirits
While living as a Kyoto Jujutsu High student, Kokichi secretly served as a spy for Suguru Geto (Kenjaku) and Mahito in exchange for a cure for his crippled body. To uphold his end of the Binding Vow, he used micro-sized puppets that were not registered in Jujutsu High’s system to secretly relay insider information to the enemy.

However, during the Kyoto Exchange Event, the special-grade cursed spirit Hanami violated a non-aggression pact by attacking Kyoto students, causing Kokichi to withdraw from his role as a spy.

As part of his deal with Mahito, Kokichi underwent Idle Transfiguration (無為転変, Mui Tenpen) and finally obtained a fully functioning body—something he had longed for his entire life. However, as soon as the process was complete, Mahito betrayed him, leading to an intense battle between the two.

■Ultimate Mechamaru: Absolute Form
Using his full-body form and the immense cursed energy he had accumulated over the years due to his Heavenly Restriction, Kokichi pushed Mahito to the brink. However, Mahito activated his Domain Expansion: Self-Embodiment of Perfection (自閉円頓裹, Jihei Endonka), trapping Kokichi inside and overwhelming him in the end. Despite putting up a valiant fight, Kokichi was ultimately defeated.
