Ryomen Sukuna plays a pivotal role in the story of Jujutsu Kaisen, profoundly influencing the events throughout the series. Known as the "King of Curses," Sukuna was the most powerful sorcerer of the Heian era, feared even in modern times after being reincarnated.

In the present day, Sukuna's body has been divided into 20 fingers, which are preserved as Special Grade Cursed Objects. Sukuna's personality is ruthless and merciless, showing little regard for others or any semblance of compassion. He operates solely to fulfill his own desires and interests, disregarding friend or foe if it suits his goals. Despite this, there are moments when Sukuna shows interest in specific individuals, particularly Megumi Fushiguro. Sukuna recognizes the potential and unique abilities of Megumi’s techniques, hinting at a deeper layer to his otherwise malevolent character.

Sukuna's appearance is defined by his grotesque and intimidating form, embodying a sense of overwhelming menace. Based on ancient lore, he is characterized by having "two faces" and "four arms." Additionally, his body is adorned with unique and intricate markings, further emphasizing his fearsome presence.

When Sukuna takes control of Yuji Itadori’s body, notable changes occur in Yuji’s usual appearance. These alterations visually represent Sukuna's dominance over Yuji's body, making it unmistakable that he is in control.

Sukuna's past remains shrouded in mystery, with only fragmented information and legends offering glimpses into his origins. His story is deeply intertwined with human history and the cursed energy system, explaining why he is feared as the "King of Curses."

■Origins and Monstrous Form
Sukuna was a sorcerer who lived during the Heian era, over a thousand years ago. He is recorded as having a monstrous form with four arms and two faces, marking him as fundamentally different from ordinary humans. Due to his terrifying appearance, Sukuna was shunned and despised by those around him. His early life is believed to have been shaped by a harsh and discriminatory environment during an era where the concept of human rights was non-existent.

Key elements of his origins include
・His mother being pregnant in a state of severe starvation.
・A "vanishing twin" phenomenon, where Sukuna absorbed his twin in utero.
・Being treated as less than human due to his grotesque appearance, leading to a life of profound isolation.

■Dominance During the Heian Era and His Demise
During his lifetime, Sukuna was the most feared sorcerer of his time, with no rival capable of standing against him. His techniques and overwhelming power obliterated any opposing forces. Even after his death, Sukuna's immense strength left a legacy of 20 preserved fingers, which became Special Grade Cursed Objects. These fingers, encased in wax, were too powerful to destroy and could only be sealed by the sorcerers of his era. Over time, they were scattered.

■Goal and Influence on the Present
Sukuna’s ultimate goal is "complete resurrection," aiming to regain his original form and strength from a millennium ago. His revival hinges on the consumption of his cursed fingers. The process begins when Yuji Itadori ingests one of these fingers, allowing Sukuna to reincarnate using Yuji's body as a vessel. Sukuna continues to leverage Yuji’s body to achieve his resurrection, and he seeks to utilize Megumi Fushiguro’s abilities to advance his plans further.

■Techniques: Mizushi (御廚子)
A deceptively simple technique that manipulates invisible slashes. Under certain conditions, it can also wield flames.

Kai (Dismantle): A precise slash primarily targeting inanimate objects but also effective against cursed spirits and sorcerers.
Hachi (Cleave): A slash that adjusts to the target's toughness and cursed energy level, allowing for a single decisive strike. This technique requires physical contact.

Kamino / Divine Flame: Activated with the chant "Fuga," this technique manipulates fire for long-range attacks. It can take the form of an arrow and boasts firepower surpassing that of Jogo, a cursed spirit specializing in flames. This technique can only be used after employing both "Kai" and "Hachi."

■Domain Expansion: Malevolent Shrine (伏魔御廚子, Fukuma Mizushi)
Sukuna can deploy an "open domain," a manifestation of his innate domain without creating a barrier to partition space. Modern sorcerers and reincarnated sorcerers alike regard this technique as a feat of impossibility.

By omitting a barrier and offering an escape route, Sukuna forms a binding vow that extends the range of his domain. Within this domain, all targets within a radius of approximately 200 meters are indiscriminately slashed by "Kai" and "Hachi."
He can also switch to a closed domain, narrowing the effective range and amplifying its power.

About "■":
During the Shibuya Incident, a technique referred to as "■" was later revealed to be "Kamino (竈)."

■Before the Shibuya Incident
Sukuna makes his debut in the first episode of Jujutsu Kaisen when Yuji Itadori consumes one of Sukuna's fingers, awakening Sukuna’s cursed power. While Sukuna attempts to fully possess Yuji’s body, Yuji’s unique abilities prevent him from gaining full control, leaving Sukuna to exist in a parasitic state.

In the Juvenile Detention Center, when the first-year students of Jujutsu High face a Special Grade Curse, Yuji, unable to fight on his own, relinquishes control of his body to Sukuna. Sukuna effortlessly defeats the Special Grade Curse with his overwhelming power, showcasing his dominance early in the series.
