■Who Is He?
As the head of the Gojo Family—one of the Big Three Sorcerer Clans—Satoru Gojo holds enormous power. His abilities go beyond overwhelming strength: he literally shifted the jujutsu world’s balance at birth. From the start, “the world targeted him,” so to speak. Yet with his unmatched talent and unbreakable resolve, he rose to become the undisputed top sorcerer.
■Gojo's Background and Abilities
He is a direct descendant of Sugawara no Michizane, a legendary figure in jujutsu history that dates back to the Heian period. He possesses two rare and formidable traits:
Limitless (無下限呪術, Mukagen Jujutsu): Makes an invisible infinity barrier around him. Anything approaching slows infinitely, never touching him. Under special conditions, he can move at impossible speed.
Six Eyes (六眼, Rikugan): A rare genetic gift that lets him see cursed energy in insane detail. This precision amplifies his Limitless techniques and keeps energy waste to a minimum. To avoid sensory overload, he wears a blindfold or shades.

■Personality and Philosophy
Gojo comes off as carefree and teasing—lime-light flirting with arrogance—but he’s far from superficial. He genuinely pushes for reform in the jujutsu world, sees his students (like Yuji, Megumi, Yuta) as the future, and pushes them hard to create change. His relationship with the establishment is rocky—he clashes with them constantly—but very few dare oppose him when he’s at full power.
■Gojo’s Influence on the Jujutsu World
Gojo’s presence alone suppresses curses. When he gets sealed during the Shibuya Incident, chaos erupts. The defense lines crumble, and the sorcerers face a level of crisis they’ve never seen—because Gojo’s absence means nobody’s there to hold the darkness back.
However, during the Shibuya Incident, Gojo is sealed away, and the jujutsu world descends into chaos. His absence leads to the collapse of defensive lines, plunging the sorcerer community into an unprecedented crisis. This event underscores Gojo’s role as the ultimate deterrent—a figure so powerful that removing him was the enemy's top priority.
Appearance

Satoru Gojo is a tall, striking figure with white hair and vivid blue eyes, which he usually keeps hidden behind a blindfold or sunglasses. According to the original manga, his height is described as being “over 190 cm” (approximately 6’3” or taller).
While his spiky white hair is distinctive, it’s his ever-present blindfold that truly sets him apart. Many jujutsu sorcerers use sunglasses or other eye coverings to prevent curses from detecting their gaze, but Gojo’s blindfold is particularly notable.
Underneath the blindfold lie his Six Eyes (六眼, Rikugan)—an extraordinarily rare ability that allows him to perceive cursed energy in intricate detail. When Gojo removes his blindfold during combat, his uncovered face, coupled with his intense blue eyes, has been described in the series as “handsome” or "strikingly good-looking."
Abilities

Gojo Satoru Cursed Techniques: Limitless ©Gege Akutami / Shueisha, Jujutsu Kaisen Production Committee
Cursed Techniques
Limitless (無下限呪術):
The Limitless is an inherited cursed technique of the Gojo Family. It manifests an "infinity" barrier that prevents any object from making contact. Under the Limitless, approaching objects undergo an “infinite convergence”, which means they slow down infinitely as they get closer to Gojo’s body, making it impossible to reach him. Under specific conditions, the technique also enables instantaneous movement or ultra-high-speed travel.
Cursed Technique Lapse: Blue (蒼, Ao): A technique that attracts targets.
Cursed Technique Reversal: Red (赫, Aka): A technique that repels targets.
Hollow Technique: Purple (虚式・茈, Kyoshiki: Murasaki): A destructive mass attack generated by combining the effects of Blue and Red.

Six Eyes
The Six Eyes is a unique trait of the Gojo Family that allows Satoru Gojo to perceive cursed energy in exceptional detail, enabling precise control over his cursed energy.
During his student years at Jujutsu High, Gojo mentioned the challenges of the Limitless, saying, “If I have to worry about directional control, handling cursed energy becomes a pain.” The Six Eyes, however, eliminates this difficulty, making it possible for Gojo to execute the complex manipulation of cursed energy required to use the Limitless.
According to the Official Fanbook, the Six Eyes can be described as “eyes that see cursed energy in extreme detail.” This ability allows Gojo to maximize the efficiency of his techniques.
Gojo wears a blindfold or sunglasses to prevent exhaustion caused by constantly perceiving vast amounts of cursed energy through the Six Eyes. In a notable remark, Toji Fushiguro describes Gojo’s combination of Six Eyes and the Limitless as a once-in-several-centuries rarity, emphasizing how extraordinarily rare this combination is.

Unlimited Void ©Gege Akutami / Shueisha, Jujutsu Kaisen Production Committee
Domain Expansion
Unlimited Void (無量空処, Muryōkūsho):
Unlimited Void is Gojo’s Domain Expansion, a sure-hit domain that incapacitates opponents by flooding their minds with infinite information.
Gojo’s Unlimited Void pulls targets into a space that applies the power of infinity. Within this domain, all perceptions, communications, and bodily functions are forced into an infinite loop of processing. Overwhelmed by endless information, the target’s mind becomes paralyzed, leaving them unable to move or fight until they slowly succumb to death.
Relationships

Yuji Itadori ©Gege Akutami / Shueisha, Jujutsu Kaisen Production Committee
Yuji Itadori
Satoru Gojo was the one who brought Yuji Itadori into Jujutsu High after Yuji consumed one of Sukuna’s fingers and was sentenced to “secret execution”. Gojo proposed Gojo saved Yuji by negotiating his temporary survival after ingesting Sukuna’s finger, suggesting Yuji finish collecting all the fingers before execution. Their bond is mentor-and-student, but also friendly and supportive. Gojo’s constant reassurance—“It’s fine. I’m the strongest.”—gives Yuji the strength to keep moving forward, especially after Gojo’s sealing.

Megumi Fushiguro & Satoru Gojo ©Gege Akutami / Shueisha, Jujutsu Kaisen Production Committee
Megumi Fushiguro
Megumi Fushiguro is one of Gojo’s most favored students, whose potential Gojo holds in the highest regard. When Megumi was a child, his father, Toji Fushiguro, attempted to sell him to the Zenin Clan. Gojo intervened, nullified the deal, and took Megumi under his wing, guiding him toward a future at Jujutsu High.
Gojo’s relationship with Megumi extends beyond that of a teacher and student. He holds high expectations for Megumi, hoping that he grows strong enough to keep up with him. While Megumi respects Gojo as a mentor, he occasionally finds Gojo’s carefree attitude exasperating.

His only real friend. Together at Jujutsu High, they were the strongest duo—until tragedy struck during the Star Plasma Vessel mission. After Geto’s dark turn, Gojo eventually fights and reluctantly kills him. Even later, when Kenjaku impersonates Geto, Gojo agonizes over the loss: “But my soul rejects it.”

Yuta Okkotsu ©Gege Akutami / Shueisha, Jujutsu Kaisen Production Committee
Yuta Okkotsu
Yuta Okkotsu is a distant relative of Satoru Gojo and one of the students in whom Gojo places immense expectations. When Yuta was afflicted by the Special grade cursed spirits Rika Orimoto, Gojo saved him from execution and brought him to Jujutsu High. Under Gojo’s guidance, Yuta rapidly developed into a Special Grade Jujutsu Sorcerer, fully unlocking his potential.
Gojo recognizes Yuta’s “limitless potential” and is notably strict with him, reflecting the immense faith he has in Yuta’s abilities. Yuta, in turn, regards Gojo as a mentor, continually growing both in combat and emotional strength under his guidance.

Night Parade of a Hundred Demons (Shinjuku & Kyoto)
This episode, adapted in Jujutsu Kaisen 0: The Movie, takes place one year before the main storyline. During this time, Satoru Gojo serves as a mentor to first-year jujutsu sorcerer Yuta Okkotsu, guiding him as a teacher.
Special Grade Curse User Suguru Geto unleashes curses in Shinjuku and Kyoto, aiming to kill a thousand non-sorcerers in the Night Parade of a Hundred Demons. In this battle, Gojo uses techniques such as Lapse: Blue, Reversal: Red, and Hollow Technique: Purple, obliterating a building-sized cursed spirit with a single attack.
In the climax, Gojo confronts his former best friend, Geto. After Yuta defeats Geto, Gojo chooses to put an end to his life. In Geto’s final moments, he mutters, “YOU SHOULD AT LEAST CURSE ME AT THE EN,” to which Gojo responds with quiet, heartfelt words. This scene highlights Gojo's unmatched strength while also revealing his loneliness and sorrow.

Fearsome Womb Arc

When Yuji Itadori loses control after consuming Sukuna's finger, Gojo intervenes and faces Sukuna directly. Demonstrating overwhelming speed and combat prowess, Gojo effortlessly evades Sukuna’s attacks while retaliating with ease. This fight introduces his Limitless ability, showcasing his absolute defense and near-instantaneous movement.
His line, “It’s OK. I’m the strongest,” delivered with confidence and a smile, encapsulates Gojo’s charisma and absolute dominance, leaving a lasting impression on viewers.

8.4 Hidden Inventory / Premature Death Arc
This arc reveals Gojo’s past during his time at Jujutsu High, exploring how he became the "strongest sorcerer."
Alongside Suguru Geto, Gojo is assigned to protect Riko Amanai, the Star Plasma Vessel for Master Tengen. However, they are confronted by Toji Fushiguro, known as the “Sorcerer Killer,” who bypasses Gojo’s Limitless and defeats him for the first time. This marks a pivotal moment where Gojo experiences failure and weakness for the first time in his life.
On the brink of death, Gojo masters the Reverse Cursed Technique, enabling him to heal himself and face Toji once more. This time, Gojo overwhelms Toji using techniques like Reversal: Red and Hollow Technique: Purple, solidifying his status as the "strongest sorcerer".
This event marks Gojo's awakening and sets the stage for his future as an unmatched force, while also driving a wedge between him and Geto, leading Gojo to pursue his goal of "reforming the jujutsu world."

Shibuya Incident Arc
The Shibuya Incident Arc is one of the most significant arcs in Jujutsu Kaisen, showcasing Gojo’s immense power and the shocking twist of his sealing.
On October 31, 2018, a Curtain traps civilians in Shibuya, setting the stage for an ambush. Gojo faces Special Grade Curses Jogo, Hanami, and Choso simultaneously in the Tokyo Metro Shibuya Station. Demonstrating his overwhelming power, Gojo eliminates Hanami instantly and neutralizes 1,000 mutated humans with his Domain Expansion: Unlimited Void, rendering them powerless in 0.2 seconds. Within 299 seconds, Gojo wipes out all threats.
However, through the schemes of Pseudo-Geto (Kenjaku), Gojo is sealed within the Prison Realm. This event becomes a turning point for the jujutsu world, plunging it into chaos due to Gojo’s absence.

Trivia
Blindfold vs. Sunglasses
When asked by fans about the difference between Satoru Gojo’s use of a blindfold and sunglasses, author Gege Akutami simply replied, “It’s just a vibe. He might wear sunglasses when meeting girls.” This reveals there’s no deep reason behind the choice—it's based on mood or situation.
Vision with the Six Eyes
According to the official fanbook, even when Gojo is wearing a blindfold, he can perceive the cursed energy around him in high resolution, similar to thermal imaging. This is made possible through his innate technique, the Six Eyes.
Limitations of the Six Eyes
Although Gojo can detect the residual flow of cursed energy in non-living structures and identify their shape, he cannot perceive entities that have no cursed energy at all. This became a weakness when he was caught off guard by Toji Fushiguro, who possesses no cursed energy due to his Heavenly Restriction.
Love of Sweets
Despite his carefree and easygoing personality, Gojo is known for his love of sweets. This stems from a background setting where he frequently ate sugary foods to keep his brain running at full capacity. Because his battles and missions require intense mental focus, he developed a strong preference for desserts as a form of energy replenishment.
On Romance
When asked whether Gojo would want a romantic partner, Akutami responded, “I can’t picture Gojo being genuinely committed to a single woman.” This suggests that Gojo isn’t interested in forming a serious romantic relationship.
Summary
In Jujutsu Kaisen, Satoru Gojo is not merely the "strongest sorcerer"—he is the central pillar that supports the entire story. His overwhelming combat abilities and charismatic presence captivate readers and viewers alike, while within the jujutsu world, he serves as a beacon of hope, a light that shines against the darkness. However, Gojo's unparalleled strength also burdens him with loneliness, a weight made heavier by his painful separation from his former best friend, Suguru Geto.
As a teacher, Gojo devotes himself to nurturing the next generation of sorcerers who will carry the jujutsu world into the future. Students like Yuji Itadori, Megumi Fushiguro, and Yuta Okkotsu are all profoundly influenced by his guidance. In this role, Gojo is more than just the "strongest character"—he is a mentor and guide, entrusting his dreams and hopes to the sorcerers of tomorrow.
Will Gojo’s seal be broken? Will he face Sukuna in an ultimate showdown? Fans eagerly await the continuation of the anime to see what lies ahead.
