The story and preview images for Episodes 48 and 49 of the anime Jujutsu Kaisen: Culling Game Part 1 have been revealed. These episodes are scheduled to air on Friday, January 9 at 12:26 AM (JST), and will later be made available on streaming platforms in various regions.

Episode 48 & 49 Story

In the aftermath of the Shibuya Incident, Tokyo has turned into a cursed wasteland. Yuji Itadori and Choso silently continue hunting cursed spirits amid the chaos. Their path is suddenly blocked by Naoya Zenin, who is plotting to assassinate Megumi Fushiguro in order to seize the position of head of the Zenin clan.

From Naoya, Yuji learns that the suspension of his death sentence has been revoked. At the same time, Special Grade sorcerer Yuta Okkotsu launches a surprise attack, having been appointed as Yuji’s executioner. Overwhelmed by Yuta’s immense cursed energy, Yuji is driven into a desperate situation.

October 31, 2018.

As Halloween festivities fill the area around Shibuya Station, a mysterious “veil” suddenly descends, trapping countless civilians inside.

Entering the scene alone is Satoru Gojo, the strongest jujutsu sorcerer of the modern era. However, curse users and cursed spirits plotting to seal Gojo are lying in wait. Yuji Itadori and many other jujutsu sorcerers gather in Shibuya, and an unprecedented large-scale clash of curses, the “Shibuya Incident,” begins.

The battle then leads into the deadly killing game known as the “Culling Game,” orchestrated by the worst sorcerer in history, Kenjaku (Noritoshi Kamo). After the Shibuya Incident, ten barriers across Japan turn into demon-infested colonies.

Amid this overwhelming chaos, special grade sorcerer Yuta Okkotsu stands in Yuji’s path as the appointed executioner of his death sentence. Even in despair, Yuji continues to fight on, while Okkotsu mercilessly turns his blade toward him. The chaos of curses accelerates.
