Bandai Namco Group's Gundam Project held an event on the 4th titled "Gundam Conference WINTER 2024," which was streamed online, to celebrate the 45th anniversary of the "Gundam" series. During the event, they announced details of a new anime being produced in collaboration with Studio Khara.

The new anime is titled "Mobile Suit Gundam GQuuuuuuX," and it will be directed by Kazuya Tsurumaki.

This work is a collaboration between Studio Khara, known for the "Evangelion" series, and Sunrise, the studio behind the Gundam series. It is scheduled to air on the Nippon TV network. Kazuya Tsurumaki, who directed the "Rebuild of Evangelion" series, including the 2021 film "Evangelion: 3.0+1.0 Thrice Upon a Time," will be directing the anime. The series composition will be handled by Yoji Enokido, and mechanical design will be by Ikuto Yamashita—a talented team of creators has been assembled for this project. Alongside the announcement of the main staff involved, other information, including a teaser visual, plot synopsis, special preview, and character details, were also revealed.

The main character, Amate Yuzuriha (MACHU), along with two other main characters and the protagonist mobile suit GQuuuuuuX, have been revealed. The protagonist, Amate Yuzuriha, is a high school girl who feels that her peaceful life on a colony is somehow fake. After meeting Nyaan, she becomes the pilot of "GQuuuuuuX" and participates in the "Clan Battle." The GQuuuuuuX is a mysterious, cutting-edge mobile suit piloted by Machu, participating in Clan Battle as part of the Pomeranians.

Tomoyo Kurosawa, who voices MACHU, commented, "I am Tomoyo Kurosawa, and I had the honor of playing Machu. At the production site, I once again felt the impact and enthusiasm of the 'Gundam' gene. The Tsurumaki-director style fills the screen with high energy, and I am eagerly looking forward to the release."

Nyaan is a young girl who works as an illegal smuggler. During a war that engulfed her homeland, she fled her colony alone in a Petit Mobile Suit without even having time to check on her family. Fortunately, she was picked up by a ship and brought to the colony where Machu lives. Her number one priority is survival. Yui Ishikawa voices Nyaan and commented, "Nyaan, a former refugee, is not good at communicating with others, but she has the strength to live on her own. She finds a friend for the first time, and we couldn't predict how things would unfold until the very end! Please look forward to Mobile Suit Gundam by Studio Khara!"

Shuji Itō is a mysterious boy who appears in front of Machu and Nyaan. He paints graffiti on various colony walls and is wanted by the military police. He joins the Clan Battle to earn money for a particular purpose and becomes Machu's "mav." Shinba Tsuchiya, who voices Shuji, said, "Getting the role in this audition was a complete surprise for me. Shuji seems elusive and mysterious, but the words he says are true to him, and they make perfect sense in his mind. I tried to stay true to the ordinary boy's perspective when delivering his lines. Please engage in all sorts of speculations!"

Story of 'Mobile Suit Gundam GQuuuuuuX

Amate Yuzuriha is a high-school student living peacefully in a space colony floating in outer space.

When she meets a war refugee named Nyaan, Amate is drawn into the illegal mobile suit dueling sport known as Clan Battle.

Under the entry name "Machu," she throws herself into fierce battle day after day, piloting the GQuuuuuuX. Then an unidentified Gundam mobile suit pursued by both the space force and the police appears before her, along with its pilot, a boy named Shuji.

Now their world is about to enter a new era.
