Bandai Namco Group's Gundam Project hosted an online event, "Gundam Conference WINTER 2024," on the 4th to announce the latest news from the Gundam series, which marks its 45th anniversary this year. During the event, they revealed information on a new Gundam anime co-produced with Studio Khara.

The new anime is titled "Mobile Suit Gundam GQuuuuuuX," and it will be directed by Kazuya Tsurumaki.

This work is a collaboration between Studio Khara, known for the "Evangelion" series, and Sunrise, the studio behind the Gundam series. It is scheduled to air on the Nippon TV network. Kazuya Tsurumaki, who directed the "Rebuild of Evangelion" series, including the 2021 film "Evangelion: 3.0+1.0 Thrice Upon a Time," will be directing the anime. The series composition will be handled by Yoji Enokido, and mechanical design will be by Ikuto Yamashita—a talented team of creators has been assembled for this project. Alongside the announcement of the main staff involved, other information, including a teaser visual, plot synopsis, special preview, and character details, were also revealed.

Ahead of the TV broadcast, "Mobile Suit Gundam GQuuuuuuX -Beginning-," a theatrical version restructured from selected episodes, will be screened in 373 theaters across Japan starting January 17 next year. Additionally, information on the advance tickets, which will go on sale from the 13th, has also been announced.

Story of 'Mobile Suit Gundam GQuuuuuuX

Amate Yuzuriha is a high-school student living peacefully in a space colony floating in outer space.

When she meets a war refugee named Nyaan, Amate is drawn into the illegal mobile suit dueling sport known as Clan Battle.

Under the entry name "Machu," she throws herself into fierce battle day after day, piloting the GQuuuuuuX. Then an unidentified Gundam mobile suit pursued by both the space force and the police appears before her, along with its pilot, a boy named Shuji.

Now their world is about to enter a new era.
