It has been announced that the manga "The Summer Hikaru Died" will be adapted into an anime.

This work, created by the rising star Mokumokuren, is a youth horror story filled with madness, featuring a boy and a "something" in the form of his best friend. The story revolves around Yoshiki and Hikaru, two boys of the same age who have grown up together in a rural village. One day, Yoshiki becomes certain that the person he thought was Hikaru has been replaced by something else. Despite this, he wants to stay together. Thus begins their ordinary days with the "something" that looks like his friend. Meanwhile, various incidents start occurring in the village.

The manga is currently serialized in "Young Ace UP" and has surpassed 2.1 million copies in circulation as of May 24.
