The original work for this movie is a popular manga that has exceeded 100 million copies in circulation. Set in a world where it's normal for people to have superpowers known as "Quirks," the protagonist, Izuku Midoriya (Deku), aims to become a "Hero" who protects society and confronts criminals who misuse their Quirks, while growing alongside his peers at the prestigious hero academy, U.A. High School.

Serialized in "Weekly Shonen Jump" since July 2014, the TV anime's first season started in April 2016, and the series has also expanded to include movies. The seventh season of the TV anime is currently airing. The movie, supervised by the manga's original creator Kohei Horikoshi and featuring an original story by him, is set in the same timeline as the seventh season of the anime. In a society ravaged by battles between heroes and villains, with escapees from villain containment facilities causing chaos, a major incident shakes the world just before the final showdown between the heroes, including the protagonist, Izuku Midoriya, and the villains.
