Manga "Dandadan" to Be Adapted into TV Anime Next Year, Produced by Science SARU with PV Released
The manga "Dandadan" (author: Yukinobu Tatsu), currently serialized in Shonen Jump+, has been confirmed to be adapted into a TV anime in 2024. The animation production will be handled by Science SARU, known for their work on the anime film "Inu-Oh" and the TV anime "Keep Your Hands Off Eizouken!", and a teaser visual along with a PV of about 45 seconds has been released. Cast information will be announced at the "Jump Festa" stage event held on December 16th.
"Dandadan" is a non-stop occultic and quirky battle & romantic comedy where a high school girl who affirms the existence of ghosts but does not believe in aliens, and her classmate, a boy who doesn't believe in ghosts but is an occult maniac, get involved. After encountering the yokai "Turbo-Granny," the two are cursed and face numerous supernatural phenomena.
Serialized in "Shonen Jump+" since April 2021, its mix of "occult," "battle," "action," "romantic comedy," and "youth" elements has made it popular, with the comics surpassing a total of 3.2 million copies. The author is also known for being an assistant on "Chainsaw Man" (Tatsuki Fujimoto) and "Hell's Paradise: Jigokuraku" (Yuji Kaku).
The released teaser visual features eye-catching colors drawn in psychedelic colors. In the center, the characters Momo and Okarun are depicted stepping forward, with what appears to be aliens and ghosts from the series targeting them from behind, and a UFO appearing in the sky sucking up a cow.
