The television anime "Kaiju No. 8" has announced the production of its sequel, along with new cast additions. Kohki Uchiyama will voice Gen Narumi, the captain of the First Division of the Defense Force.

The first season, which began airing in April, concluded with episode 12 today, on the 29th, accompanied by a special announcement confirming the sequel. The special footage included the voice of Gen Narumi saying, "The First Division is mobilizing. Let's wipe them out," heightening anticipation for the upcoming developments.
Koki Uchiyama, known for his roles as Kei Tsukishima in Haikyuu!! and Tomura Shigaraki in My Hero Academia, will bring Gen Narumi to life. Uchiyama commented, "I discovered that Gen is an interesting character with various elements, so I kept his charm in mind during the recording."

Kaiju No. 8, serialized in the manga app "Shonen Jump+" since July 3, 2020, is set in a world where disasters (kaiju) relentlessly invade daily life. The story centers on Kafka Hibino, a 32-year-old who cleans up kaiju corpses for the Defense Force while dreaming of becoming a defense force officer. His life changes when his body is transformed into a kaiju by a mysterious creature, earning him the code name "Kaiju No. 8" from the Japan Defense Force.

Right after the first chapter was published, the manga received over 3,200 comments in one day, trending on Twitter (now X). Each new release breaks records for circulation and views on "Shonen Jump+," making it one of the platform's flagship series with over 2 million views per chapter.

In 2021, it won first place in the "Web Manga Category" of the "Next Manga Awards 2021." It also topped the "First Volume Sales Ranking" by Japan Publishing and Distribution Co., Ltd. (Nippan), ranked sixth in the "Manga Awards 2021," and took second place in the "5th TSUTAYA Comic Awards." The manga has exceeded 14 million copies in circulation.
