"Blue Lock" Film Surpasses 460 Million Yen in Just Three Days
The box office earnings for the anime film "Blue Lock -EPISODE Nagi-" (released on April 19th) have been announced. In just three days of release, the film attracted 337,000 viewers and grossed over 460 million yen, according to Kogyo Tsushinsha.
"Blue Lock" is based on the ongoing manga series serialized in Weekly Shonen Magazine, centered around a Japanese soccer project aimed at creating a forward with "overwhelming egoism," something the national team lacks to win the World Cup.
The story follows the selection of 300 high school forwards, out of which only one will become the revolutionary striker Japan needs, sacrificing the soccer careers of 299 others in the process. The manga series has surpassed 30 million copies in circulation.
The TV anime adaptation began airing in October 2022, and a second season has been confirmed. The movie, based on "Blue Lock -EPISODE Nagi-" currently serialized in Bessatsu Shonen Magazine, reimagines the battle within "Blue Lock" (the blue prison) from the perspective of the genius, Seishiro Nagi, offering a fresh narrative.
