Film 'Look Back' Streaming on Prime Video from November 8 - Original Author Thrilled with Its Completion: "Truly Amazing"
The animated film 'Look Back' will be exclusively available on Prime Video worldwide starting November 8. To commemorate this occasion, a new key visual illustrated by director Oshiyama and comments from both director Oshiyama and Tatsuki Fujimoto have been released.
The animated film 'Look Back' marks the first collaboration between the Amazon MGM Studios, known for producing numerous hit films globally, and a Japanese anime production committee. Furthermore, 'Look Back' will be the first anime film, following 'Evangelion: 3.0+1.0 Thrice Upon a Time' (which was exclusively streamed worldwide on Prime Video in August 2021), to have a worldwide exclusive streaming release after being screened in theaters in Japan.
In the new visual, Kyomoto is depicted as the first reader of Fujino's masterpiece, lying on the bed in Fujino's room, completely in awe of her work.
Comment from Kiyotaka Oshiyama
The movie 'Look Back' is a film in which I added my own perspective to the powerful story of Tatsuki Fujimoto's original manga. It's a short film, only 58 minutes long, but I was genuinely surprised that so many people came to see it in theaters multiple times.
With this global streaming release, I am delighted that we can bring the movie to people who couldn't come to the theaters and to even more viewers. I hope that by watching it on streaming platforms, audiences can take their time to enjoy it from various perspectives.
Please also look out for the many Easter eggs hidden in the details of the film. I hope the allure of the animated images and the power they convey will reach you even a little.
Comment from Tatsuki Fujimoto
During the planning of the movie 'Look Back,' I was told that simply adapting the original work would result in a short film, and that we would need to add 30-40 minutes of original content to make it a commercially viable piece. This would have considerably limited the theaters where it could be screened, and in America, films under 60 minutes cannot even be shown in theaters.
The fact that we were able to release it in its current form, at this level of quality, is thanks to director Kiyotaka Oshiyama's decision. I was truly amazed by how the expressions that were clumsy and hard to convey in the manga became clearer and more vivid in the film.
Also, the soundtrack by Haruka Nakamura is so perfectly fitting that I can't imagine anything else. I owe everything to these two individuals. Thank you very much! Thank you to everyone who came to see it in theaters! For those watching on Prime Video, the animation is incredible, so I hope you'll watch it on the biggest screen possible! Thank you in advance!
