[GAME] Behind the Scenes: Shohei Ohtani's Realistic 3D Scan and Pitching Form in 'Professional Baseball Spirits 2024-2025'
On the 24th, Konami Digital Entertainment unveiled visuals of KONAMI baseball game ambassador, Shohei Ohtani, faithfully recreated within the upcoming 'Professional Baseball Spirits 2024-2025' (Pro Spirits, available for PlayStation 5 and Steam), set to be released on October 17th to commemorate the series' 20th anniversary. This is the first time that the game footage and production process have been revealed.
Shohei Ohtani's in-game appearance is based on 3D scan data of his face, captured in Los Angeles this January. His pitching and batting forms were also analyzed using real game footage, faithfully replicating every detail, including his follow-through motions. Even the "New Balance" glove worn by Ohtani has been accurately recreated in the game.
The 'Professional Baseball Spirits' series is known for its pursuit of realism in professional baseball games. The first home console game, 'Professional Baseball Spirits 2004,' was released on March 25, 2004. In 'Professional Baseball Spirits 2015,' the series introduced 3D scanning technology, capturing professional baseball players from 360 degrees to recreate them in three dimensions. Furthermore, laser scanning technology was adopted to measure the precise shapes of stadiums, allowing players to enjoy highly immersive and realistic baseball experiences. The mobile game, 'Professional Baseball Spirits A,' which was launched in 2015, celebrates its 9th anniversary this year and has surpassed 56 million downloads in total.
