Serialized on the manga app "Shonen Jump+" since July 3, 2020, "Kaiju No. 8" is set in Japan, a country with one of the highest kaiju occurrence rates in the world, where kaiju (monsters) relentlessly invade daily life. The story follows 32-year-old Kafka Hibino, who works cleaning up the corpses of kaiju defeated by the Defense Force. While pursuing his dream of becoming a Defense Force member, his body is transformed into a kaiju by a mysterious creature, earning him the code name "Kaiju No. 8" from the Japanese Defense Force.

Right after the first chapter was published, it received over 3,200 comments in a single day with reactions such as "The rapid development is incredibly exciting." It quickly trended on Twitter (now X), and with each new volume, it set records for circulation and viewership on "Shonen Jump+" at an unprecedented pace. It now boasts over 2 million views per chapter, making it one of the platform's flagship series with over 2 million readers eagerly anticipating each new installment.

Additionally, it was awarded first place in the "Web Manga Category" of the "Next Manga Award 2021." It also topped the "First Volume Sales Ranking" announced by the web media "Hon no Hikidashi" by Nippan (Nippon Shuppan Hanbai Inc.), ranked 6th in the "Manga Taisho 2021," and took 2nd place in the "5th TSUTAYA Comic Awards" among other accolades. The TV anime aired from April to June 2024, and a sequel has been decided.
