Renowned voice actor Toru Furuya (70), who recently admitted to having an extramarital affair with a non-celebrity woman, will step down from his roles as Amuro Tooru in 'Detective Conan' and Sabo in 'One Piece'. This announcement was made on June 22 by Aoni Production on their official website.

Furuya's comments were also included: "Due to the significant damage I have caused to the image of the works and characters of 'Detective Conan' and 'One Piece,' and after much deliberation, I have decided to step down from the roles of Amuro Toru and Sabo as the only form of atonement I can offer at this time. I apologize deeply to everyone involved in these works, the many fans who support them, and the characters themselves."

In May of this year, Furuya admitted to having an affair with a non-celebrity woman. On May 22, an article by Shukan Bunshun (Bunshun Online) was published with the headline: "[In the Voice of Popular Detective Conan Character Amuro Tooru...]: Legendary Voice Actor Toru Furuya (70) Confesses to a 4.5-Year Affair, Abortion, and Assault Scandal with a Fan 37 Years His Junior."

Following this, on the same day, Furuya reported on X, "I, Toru Furuya, have been interviewed by Shukan Bunshun. I have an apology and report regarding the significant wrongdoing I have committed. I had a long-term extramarital relationship with a fan for four and a half years until last September."
