Hideaki Sorachi Launches New Comedy Manga After 7 Years: “2-nen B-gumi Yusha Destroyers” Begins in Weekly Shonen Jump
The new serialization 2-nen B-gumi Yusha Destroyers (JP:2年B組 勇者デストロイヤーず) by Hideaki Sorachi, known for Gintama, began in Weekly Shonen Jump Issue 21 released on April 20. This marks his first new series since Gintama concluded in June 2019, making it a long awaited return after approximately seven years. The new work is once again a comedy.

2-nen B-gumi Yusha Destroyers is a comedy centered on demon lords. The series is promoted with the tagline “The legend of the demon lords begins here and now.” It is featured on the cover and opens with a 66 page lead color chapter.

Hideaki Sorachi was born on May 25, 1979. He made his debut in 2002 after receiving an honorable mention at the 71st Tenkaichi Manga Award for his work Dandelion, which was later published in Weekly Shonen Jump. He followed this with Shirokuro in 2003 before launching his signature series Gintama in late 2003, which ran until June 2019.
Gintama is set in an alternate Edo period where Earth has been invaded and ruled by aliens known as Amanto. The story follows the freelancer Gintoki Sakata and the people around him in a science fiction period comedy. The series has surpassed 73 million copies in circulation and has been adapted into anime and live action films.
In addition, Sorachi’s debut one shot Dandelion has also been adapted into an anime, which is available worldwide on Netflix with a total of seven episodes.
