Hideaki Sorachi Returns with First New Manga in 7 Years: “2-Nen B-Gumi Yusha Destroyers” Launches in Weekly Shonen Jump
Hideaki Sorachi new manga marks his long awaited return as the creator of Gintama begins a fresh serialization after seven years. His latest work 2-Nen B-Gumi Yusha Destroyers (JP: 2年B組 勇者デストロイヤーず) will debut in the April 20 issue of Weekly Shonen Jump.

It was announced on March 30 that manga artist Hideaki Sorachi, best known for Gintama, will launch a new series titled 2-Nen B-Gumi Yusha Destroyers (JP: 2年B組 勇者デストロイヤーず) in Weekly Shonen Jump. This marks his first new serialization since the conclusion of Gintama in June 2019, making it his first new work in approximately seven years.
Three New Series Launch in Weekly Shonen Jump
Starting in April, Weekly Shonen Jump will introduce three new serialized works, including Sorachi’s latest project.

Roku no Okashina Ie
The first new series is Roku no Okashina Ie (JP: ロクのおかしな家) by Atsushi Nakamura, beginning in the April 6 issue. The second is Natsu to Hotarukago (JP: 夏と蛍籠) by Masayoshi Satosho, launching in the April 13 issue. The third and final addition is Class 2B Hero Destroyers by Hideaki Sorachi, debuting in the April 20 issue. Color illustrations for all three new titles have been revealed.

Atsushi Nakamura previously serialized Kurokuroku in 2013 and AGRAVITY BOYS in 2020 in Weekly Shonen Jump. Masayoshi Satosho also contributed to the magazine with Momiji no Kisetsu in 2018.
Hideaki Sorachi’s Career and Legacy
Hideaki Sorachi was born on May 25, 1979. He made his debut after winning an honorable mention at the 71st Tenkaichi Manga Award with Dandelion in 2002, which was later published in Weekly Shonen Jump. He followed this with Shirokuro in 2003 before launching his signature series Gintama in late 2003.
Gintama became a massive hit, surpassing 73 million copies in circulation. The series was adapted into anime and live action films, further expanding its popularity.
Additionally, Sorachi’s debut one shot Dandelion has been adapted into an anime series, which will be exclusively streamed worldwide on Netflix starting April 16 with a total of seven episodes.
