Aimer Enchants 24,000 in Shanghai Concert: "I Was Truly Happy" - First Japanese Solo Artist to Hold 2 Days at Mercedes-Benz Arena
Singer Aimer kicked off her first overseas solo tour in five years, "Aimer 3 nuits tour 2024," on the 15th and 16th at the Mercedes-Benz Arena in Shanghai, China, captivating a total of 24,000 people over two days. Aimer became the first Japanese solo artist to hold a two-day solo concert at the Mercedes-Benz Arena.
The overseas tour, the first in five years, will visit Shanghai, Taipei, and Hong Kong. The tour title "3 nuits" (Trois Nuits) means "Three Nights." Initially, there was only one performance scheduled per city, but due to all tickets selling out immediately, additional performances were hastily added in Shanghai and Taipei.
The concert opened with "Stardust Venus" under lighting that created a starry sky effect. After singing "Ref
-3nuits ver.-," specially rearranged for this tour, Aimer expressed her gratitude to her Shanghai fans in a mix of Japanese and Chinese, saying, "I’m so happy to be back in Shanghai after five years and to see you again. I will sing the songs you love as well as my latest songs. Please enjoy until the end."
She then performed three songs in a row, "ninelie," "wavy flow," and "I beg you," immersing the audience in the world of her music and her voice. Aimer continued with "White Dragonfly" from her single released last year, "800" from her EP released last week, the internationally popular "Re
AM," and her latest song "Haruka."
When Aimer asked the audience, "Can you get even more excited?" she debuted "End of All," a song she performed for the first time live from the globally popular game "Genshin Impact" at its online event "Genshin New Year 2024," followed by "escalate." The edgy two songs were succeeded by "Zankyosanka," hugely popular in China, turning the venue into a frenzy.
"I was truly happy to see you. I hope we can continue to live together through music," Aimer said, concluding the main set with "Brave Shine." Responding to fervent encores, she sang "LAST STARDUST."
"Thank you so much for finding me. I look forward to seeing you again," she conveyed before ending with "Rokutosei no Yoru." The concert ended on an emotional note with a spontaneous chorus from the audience, wrapping up the Shanghai performance.
After this, Aimer will proceed to Taipei and Hong Kong, followed by a nationwide hall tour in Japan starting in October (19 performances in 10 cities).
