“Killed Again, Mr. Detective?” Anime Reveals Teaser Visual and Announces Four New Cast Members Including Katsuyuki Konishi and Rie Kugimiya
Killed Again, Mr. Detective? is set to premiere on TBS this April, and the TV anime has revealed additional cast members along with a newly unveiled teaser visual.

The series is based on a mystery novel published by MF Bunko J. The original work is written by teniwoha, widely known as a Vocaloid producer as well as a novelist, with illustrations by Riichu, who is also acclaimed for her artwork on The Vexations of a Shut In Vampire Princess.
The story follows Sakuya Outsuki, a high school detective cursed with an extraordinary condition that allows him to come back to life every time he is killed. Using this rule breaking ability, he confronts a series of complex and dangerous cases that would be impossible for an ordinary detective to solve.

The anime is directed by Takashi Naoya, known for works such as Tales of Wedding Rings, Touken Ranbu Hanamaru Special: Snow Arc, and Osamake: Romcom Where The Childhood Friend Won’t Lose. Series composition is handled by Mio Inoue, who previously worked on My Awkward Senpai.
Character design is by Akiko Kumada of Twittering Birds Never Fly, while art direction is led by Kuniaki Nemoto, whose credits include Attack on Titan: The Final Chapters THE LAST ATTACK. Cinematography is directed by Mitsuyoshi Yamamoto, known for Tokyo Revengers.
Sakuya Outsuki is voiced by Rikuya Yasuda, and his capable assistant Lilithea is voiced by Shion Wakayama.
Four Key Characters Join the Story
The newly announced cast members portray four characters who play crucial roles as Sakuya uncovers the truth behind each case.
Yoshino Aoyama voices Yuriu Haigamine, an up and coming young actress.
Katsuyuki Konishi takes on the role of Kaoruta Sozorogi, a detective who has known Sakuya for years.
Rie Kugimiya voices Shardina Inferishas, one of the notorious criminals known as The Seven Old Men.
Yuki Takada plays Belka Zeppelin, the assistant to a famed detective from the United Kingdom.
Teaser Visual Highlights the Core Relationship
The teaser visual depicts Sakuya lying motionless with his eyes closed on Lilithea’s lap, having once again been killed by an unknown assailant. Lilithea gazes down at him with a faintly anxious expression, conveying her complicated feelings toward the repeated deaths of the detective she supports.
The illustration carries a quiet, melancholic, and mysterious atmosphere, as if echoing the line that defines the series: “Killed again, Mr. Detective?”
Although Sakuya’s ability to revive after death is undeniably powerful, it also means enduring the pain and fear of dying over and over again. His earnest and relentless determination to uncover the truth, combined with the unwavering bond between him and Lilithea, forms the emotional heart of the story.
Even when he is killed again, he revives again and awakens on Lilithea’s lap each time. This newly revealed visual perfectly symbolizes their relationship and heightens anticipation for the series.
Cast Comments
Yoshino Aoyama commented that Yuriu is cheerful and friendly, embodying much of the lighthearted tone of the story. She described the character’s hardworking yet slightly awkward nature as a key element that makes the narrative more engaging and said she enjoyed playing the role immensely.
Katsuyuki Konishi shared that he plays Sozorogi, a police detective. He humorously remarked that while detectives often steal the spotlight in modern stories, he intends to show that the police can stand their ground just as well.
Rie Kugimiya expressed her excitement about portraying Shardina, describing her as glamorous, gorgeous, and mysterious. She said bringing such a richly expressive character to life was a delightful experience.
Yuki Takada congratulated the series on its anime adaptation, praising the powerful impact of the title and recalling how she could not stop turning the pages while reading the original novel. She said she eagerly awaits seeing how the story will be brought to life through animation.
