On X, he shared a color illustration from "H×H" with the comment, "So that it's okay even if I fail. Digital generation over there, don’t laugh." The illustration features Gon. Currently on hiatus, "HUNTER×HUNTER" ended its weekly serialization with chapter 400 in the December 26, 2022 issue of "Weekly Shonen Jump." In this issue, the editorial department explained, "Considering Togashi-sensei's health, after consulting with the editorial department, it has been decided that 'HUNTER×HUNTER' will be delivered in a non-weekly serialization format."

They continued, "Togashi-sensei is continuing to write the story, and the editorial department will continue to support him until the completion of 'HUNTER×HUNTER.' We will announce the specific timing and format of future publications in upcoming issues of 'Weekly Shonen Jump.' We appreciate your continued support for 'HUNTER×HUNTER.'"

On March 9, 2023, Togashi updated his social media, reporting, "No. 401 is completed. While the production system isn't yet fixed, I'm happy that the amount of time I can spend working at my desk is gradually increasing." He also mentioned that the future publication format had not yet been decided.

The series, which started serialization in 1998, follows the adventures of a boy named Gon, who embarks on a journey with his friends, including his best friend Killua. Currently, the "Dark Continent Arc" (Succession War Arc) is unfolding, depicting various characters such as Kurapika and members of the Phantom Troupe clashing aboard a ship headed to an unexplored continent. The serialization resumed on October 24, 2022, with chapter 391, after a hiatus of three years and eleven months.
