Detective Conan Celebrates 30 Years With First Opening and Ending Songs in Special Episode Featuring Masashi Aoyama’s Iconic Themes

The one hour television special Episode ZERO Kudo Shinichi Aquarium Case aired on the Yomiuri TV and Nippon TV network on the 3rd. Produced to commemorate the 30th anniversary of the Detective Conan anime, the episode featured a memorable surprise that returned the series to its roots.

During the broadcast, the first opening theme Mune ga Dokidoki by The High Lows and the first ending theme STEP BY STEP by ZIGGY were played, recreating the atmosphere of the earliest days of the series. The opening and ending visuals paid homage to the original versions while also showcasing the vast world Detective Conan has built over the past three decades. The result was an emotional fusion of nostalgia and renewal that resonated deeply with viewers.

During the special broadcast, original creator Gosho Aoyama, along with Minami Takayama as Conan Edogawa, Kappei Yamaguchi as Shinichi Kudo, and Wakana Yamazaki as Ran Mouri, revealed their personal favorite television theme songs from the series long history.

In conjunction with the announcement, the official Detective Conan YouTube channel released a complete collection of past opening and ending sequences. Fans can revisit the many iconic songs and visuals that have shaped the series over 30 years.

Following the broadcast, a new visual featuring Kaito Kuroba and Aoko Nakamori was unveiled. The illustration depicts the two chatting cheerfully while holding ice cream in front of the Tropical Land fountain, a scene witnessed by Shinichi during his location scouting.

This visual had previously been hinted at as two silhouettes in the lower right corner of the Shinichi and Ran aquarium visual released in September 2025. With this reveal, the full image has finally come into view.

In addition, a special rotating video was released that transitions from the Shinichi and Ran aquarium visual to the Kaito and Aoko fountain visual. Alongside this announcement, the anime broadcast of the Kaito Kid focused episode KID vs Hakuba The Azure Throne has also been confirmed.
