Detective Conan will refresh its iconic brick door eyecatch for the first time in 25 years, with updated footage debuting in part of the main episode from the January 3, 2026 broadcast.

It was announced on the 27th that the brick door shown before and after commercial breaks in the television anime Detective Conan, broadcast on Yomiuri TV and Nippon TV networks, will be renewed after a quarter century. The update will begin with the episode titled Episode "ZERO" The Shinichi Kudo Aquarium Case, airing on January 3 next year, where part of the main episode footage will be refreshed.

The brick door in Detective Conan refers to the mysterious door that appears before and after commercials. Accompanied by the sound of the door opening and closing, it has long served as a storytelling device that connects the narrative. Within a single episode, the door closes at the end of Part A and opens at the beginning of Part B, a familiar transition cherished by fans.

Regarding the update, the anime production staff reflected on its history, stating, “The current CG door was created in November 2000 and has been used since Episode 219, the two hour special The Gathering of the Detectives! Shinichi Kudo vs. Kaitou Kid, which aired on January 8, 2001.” They added, “Although there was a change in aspect ratio due to the transition to digital terrestrial broadcasting in Episode 453 Preview Screening of Fate and Friendship in 2006, the same materials continued to be used. Reaching a quarter century feels deeply moving.”

The staff continued by explaining the intention behind the renewal. “Staying true to our original vision, while the 30th anniversary is merely a milestone for the series, we hope to deliver the growth of visual expression to our fans as well. Detective Conan follows the story of high school detective Shinichi Kudo, who is forced into the body of a child after being poisoned by men in black. Taking the name Conan Edogawa, he continues to solve difficult cases while pursuing the mysterious organization behind his transformation.
