Japanese security company SECOM has launched the third phase of its “Home Defense Project” campaign with ambassador Shohei Ohtani, introducing a new collaboration titled “Home Defense Skill Test” by manga creators Gosho Aoyama (Detective Conan) and Takuya Mitsuda (MAJOR).

The project began with Ohtani’s wish to protect his “home” (a place of irreplaceable peace for himself and his family) together with SECOM. The first phase featured a TV commercial, the second involved a social media campaign, and now the third phase invites participants to take part in a web-based quiz that promotes home security awareness. Those who participate can win an exclusive illustration of Ohtani drawn by Aoyama and Mitsuda.

Both artists vividly captured Ohtani’s dual prowess as a pitcher and batter through their distinctive manga styles. Fans online were thrilled, commenting: “Even though it’s Ohtani, he still looks a bit like Kudo and Goro!” “Is this a case being solved with Ohtani’s ‘Go for it!’ pose?” “Aoyama-sensei drawing a baseball player is so rare!” and “If they put this up for auction, it would sell for a ridiculous price!”
