The upcoming Gintama film, New Theatrical Edition Gintama: Yoshiwara in Flames (set to premiere on February 13, 2026 in Japan), has released a new set of scene cuts as the countdown reaches 100 days before release. The newly released images depict Gintoki Sakata, gazing sharply while carrying his wooden sword over his shoulder with a dango skewer in his mouth; Shinpachi Shimura and Kagura standing their ground amid the aftermath of intense battle; and Tsukuyo, the leader of the Yoshiwara vigilante group “Hyakka,” elegantly holding her pipe as she stands within the streets of the red-light district. Also shown is Kamui, Kagura’s brother and commander of the Seventh Division of the space pirate syndicate Harusame, his face wrapped in bandages as he fixes his piercing eyes forward — all images that foreshadow an all-out battle engulfing Yoshiwara.

Producer Takashi Maekawa of Bandai Namco Pictures commented, “We named it Yoshiwara Inferno with the burning desire to pay homage to, and surpass, the legendary Yoshiwara Arc from the TV series. With the combined efforts of our passionate staff, a brand-new Gintama anime is coming together. The party’s about to begin — please wait just a little longer.”

The film is set in the underground red-light district of Yoshiwara, ruled by the “Night King” Hosen. The Yorozuya trio, Gintoki, Shinpachi, and Kagura, step into this lightless city, bringing to life one of the most powerful and emotional arcs from the original manga as a brand-new feature-length anime adaptation.

Originally serialized in Weekly Shonen Jump (Shueisha) from December 2003, Gintama is a science fiction period comedy by Hideaki Sorachi. Set in an alternate Edo period conquered by aliens known as “Amanto,” it follows odd-jobs freelancer Gintoki Sakata and his companions as they navigate a world that mixes samurai, sci-fi, and slapstick humor. The manga concluded in June 2019 and has surpassed 73 million copies in circulation. The series has inspired several TV anime adaptations, animated films, and even live-action movies starring Shun Oguri.
