The story and preview images for Episode 4 of the TV anime Sanda (JP: サンダ), based on the manga by Paru Itagaki (BEASTARS) and produced by Science SARU, have been revealed. This episode will air on Saturday, October 25 at 1:53 AM (JST) and will later be available on various international streaming platforms.

Episode 4 Story

While a funeral is being held for Ichie Ono in the gymnasium, Santa battles against Saburo Yagiuda, a member of the Red-Clad Special Task Force. However, haunted by the fear of his own dangerous powers, Santa struggles to fight back effectively. Yagiuda’s words — “Santa is supposed to bring dreams and hope to children” — reignite Santa’s confidence, and he rises to face his opponent once again. During their fierce clash, his fist smashes through the gym roof, leaving him completely naked in front of the stunned students.

Introduction

The stage is near-future Japan, facing an era of extreme population decline.

Children, regarded as the nation’s treasures, are strictly managed and protected in a fully residential academy under the control of adults. Meanwhile, Santa Claus (once a figure who gave dreams and hope to children) has been branded a dangerous threat, marked for elimination.

On December 25, as snow falls, junior high student Kazushige Sanda suddenly finds himself targeted by his classmate, Shiori Fuyumura.

She has discovered that Sanda is a descendant of Santa Claus and sought him out to grant her wish.

“Santa, please find my friend.”

Shiori’s wish is to find her missing best friend, Ichie Ono.

To protect the children, Sanda resolves to take up the mantle of Santa Claus and fight against the adults!

The original work is by Paru Itagaki, creator of BEASTARS, which won the Manga Taisho 2018 Grand Prize and swept four major manga awards.

Animation production is handled by Science SARU, the acclaimed studio behind Dandadan and Your Colors.
