The story and preview images for Episode 2 of the TV anime Sanda (JP: サンダ), based on the manga by Paru Itagaki (BEASTARS) and produced by Science SARU, have been revealed. This episode will air on Saturday, October 11 at 1:53 AM (JST) and will later be available on various international streaming platforms.
Episode 2 Story
Kazushige Sanda’s true identity as Santa Claus is exposed by his dorm roommate, Hitoshi Amaya. Out of innocent curiosity, Amaya restrains Sanda—who has transformed into Santa—and Shiori Fuyumura, forcing the two to kiss. However, Santa, who holds the firm belief of “never laying hands on a child,” refuses. He then manifests new power, summoning sleigh runners on his feet to break free from the restraints.
Amid the chaos, the school principal Hifumi Oshibu makes a sudden appearance.
Introduction
The stage is near-future Japan, facing an era of extreme population decline.
Children, regarded as the nation’s treasures, are strictly managed and protected in a fully residential academy under the control of adults. Meanwhile, Santa Claus (once a figure who gave dreams and hope to children) has been branded a dangerous threat, marked for elimination.
On December 25, as snow falls, junior high student Kazushige Sanda suddenly finds himself targeted by his classmate, Shiori Fuyumura.
She has discovered that Sanda is a descendant of Santa Claus and sought him out to grant her wish.
“Santa, please find my friend.”
Shiori’s wish is to find her missing best friend, Ichie Ono.
To protect the children, Sanda resolves to take up the mantle of Santa Claus and fight against the adults!
The original work is by Paru Itagaki, creator of BEASTARS, which won the Manga Taisho 2018 Grand Prize and swept four major manga awards.
Animation production is handled by Science SARU, the acclaimed studio behind Dandadan and Your Colors.
