The story and preview images for Episode 2 of the TV anime Sanda (JP: サンダ), based on the manga by Paru Itagaki (BEASTARS) and produced by Science SARU, have been revealed. This episode will air on Saturday, October 11 at 1:53 AM (JST) and will later be available on various international streaming platforms.

Episode 3 Story

Kazushige Sanda gains a strange new ability (objects fall whenever someone tells a lie) .

Believing this power could lead them to Ichie Ono’s whereabouts, Shiori Fuyumura suggests using it to question their classmates. However, Sanda begins doubting everyone’s words, and his growing paranoia causes him to collapse.

When Sanda confides in Fuyumura about the pain of bearing such a power, she takes out a round bottom flask and deliberately tells a lie that would cause herself harm—an act meant to show him that he isn’t alone in his suffering.

Introduction

The stage is near-future Japan, facing an era of extreme population decline.

Children, regarded as the nation’s treasures, are strictly managed and protected in a fully residential academy under the control of adults. Meanwhile, Santa Claus (once a figure who gave dreams and hope to children) has been branded a dangerous threat, marked for elimination.

On December 25, as snow falls, junior high student Kazushige Sanda suddenly finds himself targeted by his classmate, Shiori Fuyumura.

She has discovered that Sanda is a descendant of Santa Claus and sought him out to grant her wish.

“Santa, please find my friend.”

Shiori’s wish is to find her missing best friend, Ichie Ono.

To protect the children, Sanda resolves to take up the mantle of Santa Claus and fight against the adults!

The original work is by Paru Itagaki, creator of BEASTARS, which won the Manga Taisho 2018 Grand Prize and swept four major manga awards.

Animation production is handled by Science SARU, the acclaimed studio behind Dandadan and Your Colors.
