Voice Actress Aki Toyosaki, Known for Playing Yui Hirasawa in K-On!, Restricts Some Activities Following Sudden Death of Her Spouse; Agency Asks Fans to “Warmly Watch Over Her”
Voice actress Aki Toyosaki, 38, known for her role as Yui Hirasawa in the K-On! series, has announced that she will be limiting some of her professional activities following the sudden death of her spouse. Her agency made the announcement on August 15.

According to the statement, Toyosaki’s spouse was rushed to the hospital last month due to a subarachnoid hemorrhage and passed away at the hospital.
On the agency’s official website, the announcement read:
“We would like to inform you about the future activities of our talent, Aki Toyosaki. Last month, her spouse was urgently transported to the hospital due to a subarachnoid hemorrhage and sadly passed away.”
The statement continued:
“In light of this situation, after discussions with Toyosaki herself, we have decided to restrict some of her activities. We apologize to her fans and all related parties for the concern and inconvenience this may cause.”
Currently, Toyosaki is “receiving support from specialized professionals and working towards returning to her usual activities,” adding, “I would be grateful if you could warmly watch over me.”
Toyosaki debuted as a voice actress in 2006. In addition to playing Yui Hirasawa in K-On!, she is known for roles such as Iori Nagase in Kokoro Connect and Izana Shinatose in Knights of Sidonia. As a singer, she has pursued a solo career since 2009 and is also a member of the unit Sphere alongside Minako Kotobuki, Ayahi Takagaki, and Haruka Tomatsu. She announced her marriage in October 2017.
