Kodansha Launches “Sant Jordi Day Campaign” in Shibuya with Free Vol. 1 Manga Samplings Including Spacewalking with You, Skip and Loafer, and More
Kodansha will kick off its "Sant Jordi Day Campaign" starting April 19 at Shibuya MODI, offering free samplings of six popular manga titles, including Spacewalking with You, Skip and Loafer, Blue Period, and Medalist. The event commemorates Sant Jordi Day, a cultural tradition originating in Catalonia, Spain, where people exchange books and roses on April 23 as a gesture of affection.
The campaign aims to introduce this "culture of gifting books" to a broader Japanese audience.

Second Phase: Personalized “Book for You” Peel-Off Ad at Shinjuku Metro Promenade
From April 21 (Monday) to April 27 (Sunday), the second part of the campaign will be held at Shinjuku Station's Tokyo Metro Marunouchi Line Promenade. There, Kodansha will install peel-off advertisements that feature sample booklets containing the first chapter of each of the six manga titles.
What makes these ads unique is their personal touch: each booklet cover will display the phrase “A Book for Mr./Ms. 〇〇,” with 200 different surnames printed at random. This allows passersby to find a copy featuring their own name, creating a memorable and personalized gifting experience.
