The teaser promotional video for the second season of the TV anime Kaiju No. 8, set to air from July on the TV Tokyo network, has finally been released. The new footage picks up after the fierce attack on the Tachikawa Base by Kaiju No. 10, the fragmentation of the Third Division, and protagonist Kafka Hibino's secret being exposed—his identity as Kaiju No. 8.

Following his life-or-death battle against Isao Shinomiya, Kafka's fate was left hanging in the balance as his punishment was temporarily suspended. The teaser now sheds light on what became of the Defense Force members after that explosive Season 1 finale.

A major highlight of the teaser is the appearance of Narumi Gen (voiced by Koki Uchiyama), the formidable captain of the First Division, hailed as Japan’s strongest combat unit. In the teaser, Narumi exhibits a shockingly unexpected side, contrasting sharply with his commanding presence. With powerful lines like “Show them overwhelming strength,” Narumi’s many expressions only heighten the anticipation for his role in Season 2, teasing both his intimidating prowess and hidden charms.

The PV also features Kafka Hibino being informed by Isao Shinomiya about the reorganization of the First Division. Now under the command of Narumi, Kafka must prove his worth and find his purpose within this elite unit. How he will navigate his new position—and how his relationships with the other members will evolve—promises to be a compelling part of the upcoming storyline.

Kaiju No. 8, which first debuted on the manga app Shonen Jump+ on July 3, 2020, is set in a world where kaiju disasters ruthlessly disrupt everyday life. Japan, known for its especially high kaiju occurrence rate, serves as the main stage. The story follows 32-year-old Kafka Hibino, who works cleaning up the corpses of slain kaiju. Harboring dreams of joining the Defense Force, Kafka is suddenly transformed into a kaiju by a mysterious organism—earning him the code name “Kaiju No. 8” from the Japanese Defense Force.

From the release of its very first chapter, the series drew enormous attention, receiving over 3,200 comments in a single day and quickly trending on social media platform X. Every new volume has since broken records for both print circulation and online readership on Shonen Jump+, making it one of the platform’s flagship titles, with over two million views per episode.
