The anime The Apothecary Diaries, currently airing in the FRIDAY ANIME NIGHT block on NTV, has unveiled a special Valentine's Day-themed visual and mini voice drama video. This exclusive content, released today (February 14), features Maomao and Xiaolan making homemade chocolates.

Maomao & Xiaolan in a Special Valentine’s Visual

Based on the light novel series written by Natsu Hyūga and illustrated by Touko Shino, The Apothecary Diaries follows Maomao, a girl with an obsessive fascination for poisons and medicines, and Jinshi, a mysterious and handsome eunuch, as they unravel complex cases within the imperial court. Season 2 continues with Maomao’s reinstatement as the food taster for Emperor’s consort, Lady Gyokuyō, after the announcement of her pregnancy. Alongside Jinshi, Maomao tackles even more perplexing mysteries.

The newly released visual captures Maomao and Xiaolan in festive Valentine's attire, wearing aprons while preparing chocolate. Xiaolan, experiencing this for the first time, is nervously focused on making chocolates, while Maomao, observing her, provides guidance. The artwork perfectly encapsulates the spirit of Valentine's Day—a time for expressing gratitude and affection.

Mini Voice Drama & Special Campaigns

In addition to the visual, a mini voice drama featuring Maomao and Xiaolan has been released, revealing the fate of Xiaolan’s chocolates. Fans can also download exclusive Valentine’s wallpapers for PC and smartphones from the official website.

Upcoming Episode 30 Preview: “Once Again, the Crystal Palace”

Tonight’s episode (airing at 11:15 PM JST) titled "Once Again, the Crystal Palace" follows Maomao as she is confronted by Deep Green, a female court attendant, who discovers that Maomao has been secretly making medicine despite not being an official physician. Although she avoids punishment, she is asked to prepare medicine for a servant of the Crystal Palace. Upon visiting the palace, Maomao uncovers yet another hidden secret…

TV Anime Exhibition Set for March 26 in Tokyo

Additionally, a special The Apothecary Diaries exhibition will be held at Matsuya Ginza in Tokyo starting March 26. The event will feature a three-dimensional recreation of iconic scenes from the first season, exclusive animation materials, storyboards, and background art, allowing visitors to fully immerse themselves in the anime’s world. Following the Tokyo exhibition, the event is set to tour across Japan, with planned stops in Fukuoka, Osaka, and Nagoya.
