The 19th volume of the manga The Apothecary Diaries: Maomao’s Mysterious Palace Memoir, serialized in Monthly Sunday GX, was released on December 19. In this climactic chapter of the "Shi Clan Arc," Jinshi leads the imperial army to the Shi Clan fortress in an attempt to rescue Maomao. Can he succeed in saving her?

Special Editions and Bonuses

To accompany the standard edition, a Special Edition with Original Postcards was also released. The set includes six intricately designed postcards packaged in a paper case resembling a folding screen—an exclusive item only available with the special edition.

About The Apothecary Diaries

Set in a medieval Eastern-inspired world, the story follows Maomao, a young food taster turned amateur sleuth, as she solves a series of palace mysteries. Originally a novel series published on the web platform Shousetsuka ni Narou in 2011, the story was later adapted into light novels under the Hero Bunko label. The manga is currently serialized in Monthly Big Gangan and Monthly Sunday GX, with over 38 million copies sold across all formats.

The first season of the TV anime aired from October 2023 to March 2024, captivating audiences with its intricate storytelling.

Season 2 of the Anime

The upcoming second season will begin on January 10, 2025, airing for two consecutive cours. The new story will center around the challenges Maomao and Jinshi face following the revelation of Lady Gyokuyou's pregnancy. Episodes will air every Friday at 11:00 PM on Nippon TV’s FRIDAY ANIME NIGHT block, with simultaneous nationwide broadcasts.
