Mufasa: The Lion King Releases Tense Clip Featuring Ukon Onoe, Genta Matsuda, and Ken Watanabe
A dramatic scene from Disney’s highly anticipated live-action adaptation Mufasa: The Lion King (set to release on December 20) has been unveiled. The clip features a young Mufasa (voiced by Ukon Onoe) and Taka (voiced by Genta Matsuda) facing off against Kiros (voiced by Ken Watanabe), a ruthless lion bent on revenge.
The Origins of the Pride Lands’ King
Mufasa: The Lion King tells the untold story of Simba’s father, Mufasa, chronicling his rise to become the king of the Pride Lands.
The newly released clip begins with Kiros and his lion pride charging fiercely through the forest. Mufasa and Taka are seen racing across a rocky terrain with a raging river nearby. When Taka panics and suggests swimming to escape, Mufasa proposes returning to the forest to fight, creating a tense disagreement between the two.
As the lions stop momentarily, a cloud of dust arises, and gazelles scatter in fear. Emerging from the haze, Kiros appears with his pride, demanding, “Which one of you killed my son?” Cornered and unable to flee, Mufasa offers himself up, claiming, “It was me. Let him (Taka) go; he’s just a stray.”
However, Kiros’s lioness allies, Amara and Aqua, reveal that Taka is of royal lineage. Kiros’s menacing smile deepens as he declares, “Blood for blood,” targeting Taka. With Kiros’s pride closing in from the front and the raging river behind them, the two lions find themselves in a desperate situation.
