A brand-new anime adaptation of Hojo Tsukasa's classic manga Cat's Eye has been announced, set to stream worldwide exclusively on Disney+ (Star) in 2025.

The news was revealed on November 21 at the Disney Content Showcase 2024, held in Singapore’s Marina Bay Sands. A teaser visual featuring the three sisters—Hitomi, Rui, and Ai—posing under the moonlight was unveiled, along with a “Special Teaser Movie” featuring the new theme song CAT’S EYE, performed by Ado.

What is Cat's Eye?

Serialized in Weekly Shonen Jump from 1981 to 1984, Cat's Eye was Hojo’s debut series. The story follows the Kisugi sisters—Hitomi, Rui, and Ai—who run a café by day and transform into the mysterious and daring thieves known as Cat’s Eye by night. The series combines thrilling heists, romantic tension with detectives, and stylish action, capturing fans’ hearts across Japan, Asia, and the West.

The franchise remains beloved even decades later, with a 40th-anniversary art exhibition held in 2022 and ongoing media projects.

Creator Hojo Tsukasa’s Comments

“It’s been 40 years, and now Cat’s Eye is being turned into a new anime series. As this was my debut work, I’m aware of its many rough edges. Despite this, I’ve recently received offers from overseas to license the series, making me realize that people around the world still care about this work.

“When I heard about this new anime adaptation, I was genuinely surprised. It’s thanks to the fans who have supported this series over the years. I’m curious and a little anxious about how the younger generation will perceive it, but I hope they enjoy watching it.”

Ado Performs a New Version of CAT’S EYE

The iconic theme song CAT’S EYE, originally performed by Anri for the 1983 anime adaptation, has been reimagined by Ado with arrangements by Yuki Hayashi.
