"Inside Out" 1 and 2 "Midquel" to be Released on Disney+ Next Year

On August 9th local time, Disney's fan event "D23 2024" kicked off in Anaheim, California. During the first evening, the "Disney Entertainment Showcase" held at the Honda Center featured the announcement of the Disney & Pixar spin-off series "Dream Productions" (working title) from "Inside Out." The series is scheduled to be released on Disney's official streaming service "Disney+" in 2025.

Pete Docter, Chief Creative Officer at Pixar Animation Studios, reported that "Inside Out 2," which has been in theaters since August 1st in Japan, has grossed over $1.5 billion worldwide, breaking the record for the highest-grossing animated film of all time, and expressed his gratitude.

The newly announced "Dream Productions" (working title) depicts the "Dream Factory" inside Riley's head. Set between the events of "Inside Out" (2015) and "Inside Out 2," Docter described the series as a "midquel."

For Pixar, this will be their second original animated series following "Win or Lose," which will be exclusively released on Disney+ starting December 6th.

At the Pixar Animation Studios corner, the following were also revealed: the exclusive release date for "Win or Lose" (starting December 6th on Disney+), the new film "Hoppers" (working title) slated for a Spring 2026 release, the U.S. release date for "Toy Story 5" (Summer 2026), the U.S. release date for "Elio" (June 13, 2025), and the announcement of the production of "Incredibles 3" (working title) for the first time.
