'Black Butler: Emerald Witch Arc' Premieres April Next Year – Rie Kugimiya and Chikahiro Kobayashi Join as New Characters
The new anime Black Butler: Emerald Witch Arc is set to air starting April 2025. Along with this announcement, a teaser visual and new character details were unveiled. Rie Kugimiya will voice Sieglinde Sullivan, and Chikahiro Kobayashi will voice Wolfram, two key characters in this arc.
The anime is based on the manga series that began serialization in 2006. It follows the story of Ciel Phantomhive, the 12-year-old head of the prestigious Phantomhive family, and his flawless, superhuman butler, Sebastian. Acting as "evil nobles" tasked with maintaining order in the British underworld, they undertake missions assigned by the government.
This globally popular series has sold over 35 million copies and has been adapted into TV anime, theatrical films, stage productions, and even a live-action movie starring Hiro Mizushima and Ayame Gouriki in 2014. Its sixth anime adaptation, Black Butler: Boarding School Arc, aired from April to June 2024.
Comments from the Cast
■Rie Kugimiya (Sieglinde Sullivan)
I’m Rie Kugimiya, playing the role of Sieglinde Sullivan. Although she is actually a young girl, she carries a mature demeanor born from her complex background. I want to portray her with care and authenticity. Please look forward to it!
■Chikahiro Kobayashi (Wolfram)
I’m Chikahiro Kobayashi, voicing Wolfram. This was my first encounter with the original work, and I found it incredibly gripping—I couldn’t put it down! I’m thrilled to be a part of this project. While I can’t say much due to spoilers, Emerald Witch Arc is simply amazing. Please look forward to it!
