Seishiro nagi's Background in Blue Lock

Seishiro Nagi is a laid-back high school student who often says "It's too much trouble" and stands out with his strikingly large eyes, which give him a somewhat childlike appearance, despite his tall stature of 190 cm. Though he dislikes even simple tasks like chewing food, Nagi is incredibly talented and naturally skilled, handling everything with ease. This contrast is part of his charm.

From a young age, Nagi dreamed of living a lazy life playing video games. To achieve this, he applied to the prestigious Hakuhou High School in Tokyo. Despite only reading a study guide two weeks before the entrance exam, he passed with flying colors, proving himself to be a natural-born genius. Shortly after enrolling, while playing a game on the stairs, Nagi bumped into someone, dropping his phone in the process. He immediately leaped down all 17 steps and caught the phone with his foot, a feat witnessed by Reo Mikage, who recognized Nagi's talent and invited him to play soccer, saying, "Let’s play soccer together!"

Although Nagi had no interest in soccer, he accepted Reo's invitation simply because "being with Reo wasn’t too much trouble." This led Nagi to join Blue Lock, where, despite only having played soccer for six months, he ranked 221st and became the top scorer of Team V, with seven goals at the time of his debut in Chapter 22. Nagi's remarkable abilities and his reputation as the "sleeping genius" have made him a popular character in the manga "Blue Lock." In the first character popularity poll held on the "Magapoke" app from June 9 to June 15, 2022, Nagi ranked third, receiving 9,506 votes, just behind the protagonist, Yoichi Isagi.

Meeting Reo drastically changed Nagi’s life, setting him on an unexpected path.

First appearance is in episode 7.

The match was against Team Z. Nagi showcased his trapping abilities and supported Reo’s defensive efforts while Zantetsu led the attack. This initially broke the spirits of everyone on Team Z except Bachira. However, Bachira’s spirited play revived his team, and by halftime, they had closed the gap to just one goal. In the second half, Raichi Jingo began marking Reo man-to-man, and Nagi and Zantetsu were double-teamed. Moreover, it became apparent that Nagi’s extraordinary plays relied heavily on Reo’s support and passes, and he struggled to create opportunities on his own. As a result, Team Z caught up and tied the game.

However, seeing Reo’s frustrated expression and sensing the pressure of the situation, Nagi became inspired. For the first time, he felt a desire to test himself and began playing proactively. This change in approach allowed Team V to vary their offensive rhythm. With an assist from Zantetsu, Nagi created a seemingly impossible angle to trap the ball and score.

After passing the First Stage of the Second Selection in 7th place, ahead of Isagi, Nagi saw Isagi and Bachira forming a team and requested to join them. After some friction, the three formed a team and faced Itoshi Rin, Aryuu Jyubei, and Tokimitsu Aoshi’s team. Nagi’s team lost 2-5, and Bachira was stolen, relegating them to the 2nd stage.

In the 2nd stage, Nagi and Isagi faced Barou and Naruhaya Asahi’s team. Before the match, Isagi identified “one-on-one dueling skills” as their shared weakness. During the match, Nagi learned from his past experiences and developed the "Creative Trap," where he could convert any pass into a shooting opportunity with a single touch.

The match became a duel of individual skills between Nagi and Barou, but Isagi’s newly acquired off-the-ball movement skills led to a 5-4 victory. Barou was drafted into Nagi’s team, and they advanced to the 3rd stage.

In the 3rd stage, Nagi’s team faced a team composed of Kuni Ryosuke, Chigiri Hyoma, and Reo, his former partner. In the early stages, the opposing team’s high-level coordination and Barou’s solo efforts troubled Nagi’s team.

Additionally, Reo’s familiarity with Nagi’s style made it difficult for Nagi to perform as expected. However, Nagi’s coordination with Isagi and their utilization of Barou, along with a risky late-game ball steal and Barou’s awakening, secured a 5-4 victory. After the match, Nagi realized that both his and Reo’s perspectives and values had changed since they first met. Their conversation confirmed that their relationship had drifted apart, and Nagi advanced to the 4th stage.

This play prompted Rin to take the match more seriously. Though the game became a fierce back-and-forth battle, Nagi’s team ultimately lost 4-5. Nagi and his team were relegated back to the 3rd stage, but they advanced to the next selection after drafting Zantetsu and Kiyora Jin.

Throughout these matches, Nagi developed a deeper interest in soccer, realizing the excitement of giving his all in competition.

What is the Blue Lock Spin-off "Episode Nagi"?

In the entrance exam, which took the form of a game of tag, Nagi Seishiro found himself targeted by Nameoka Ryo. Though he initially ended up receiving a shot from Kiryuu Zantetsu, who had been mocking him, Nagi sat down without continuing to play, remaining the "oni" (tagger). However, this was because he believed Reo would take action. In the last five seconds before Reo was about to be eliminated, Nagi stole the ball and volleyed a shot towards Zantetsu. Zantetsu dodged the ball, which hit Nameoka in the stomach, causing him to be knocked out of the game. With this, Nagi successfully passed the entrance exam.

In the first match, Nagi faced Team Y, which included Niki Ikki and Okawa Hibiki. At first, watching Reo and Zantetsu aggressively attack, Nagi felt he didn’t need to do anything and took on the role of goalkeeper to slack off. However, when Reo informed him that scoring three goals would earn him back his confiscated phone, Nagi decided to join the offense. Despite interference from Niki and Zantetsu, with whom he had developed a rivalry during the tag game, Nagi used his incredible physical abilities to score three goals within ten minutes. The team won 8-0.

After the match, Nagi immediately started playing games on his returned phone. Later, in the bath, he had a chance to talk with Zantetsu about their reasons for playing soccer. Though Nagi’s responses were somewhat silly, he genuinely admired Zantetsu’s dedication to the game. Zantetsu, in turn, acknowledged that while Nagi was strange, he wasn’t a bad guy, and they reconciled.

In the second match, Nagi’s team faced off against Team W, led by the Wanima brothers. With Reo being heavily marked due to his previous performance in the Team Y match, Nagi thought that if Zantetsu could shine, he could continue slacking off. Nagi requested Reo to use Zantetsu more in the game. Though Zantetsu initially resisted, Reo passed the ball to him, which led Zantetsu to acknowledge Reo’s usefulness. This reconciliation with Zantetsu widened their strategic options, leading to Team W’s downfall, and Nagi’s team won 5-1. Toward the end of the game, Nagi scored a goal by receiving a ball behind his neck, then controlling it with his shoulder and finishing with a backwards touch that mocked the defense.

In the third match, Nagi’s team faced Team X, which featured Barou Shouei. While his team began falling apart, Nagi continued scoring. However, when Barou knocked Reo aside with his brute force, Nagi felt frustrated by Barou’s aggressive style and nearly got into a fight. Reo stepped in to mediate, but towards the end of the match, Nagi intentionally faced Barou head-on. Despite Barou’s interference, Nagi used his sheer talent to force through and score. The match ended in a 5-2 victory for Nagi’s team, and Nagi scored three goals. However, Barou’s presence left a strong impression on him.
