Netflix has announced that Charithra Chandran, known for her role in the Netflix series Bridgerton, will play the role of Miss Wednesday, a member of the secret crime syndicate Baroque Works, in Season 2 of the live-action adaptation of ONE PIECE.

The manga ONE PIECE, written by Eiichiro Oda and serialized in Weekly Shonen Jump (Shueisha), follows the grand oceanic adventure of Monkey D. Luffy and his Straw Hat Pirates as they set out to find the legendary treasure known as the "One Piece," left behind by the Pirate King, Gol D. Roger.

Season 2, which will depict the adventures in the Grand Line—a sea that defies common sense—will cover the much-loved “Alabasta” arc from the original manga. A major point of interest will be how Sendhil Ramamurthy, once named one of the "100 Most Handsome Faces in the World," portrays the character Cobra, who is the father of Vivi and has delivered many memorable and touching quotes as a wise king in the original story.

Season 1 featured Luffy (played by Iñaki Godoy) setting out on his journey to become the Pirate King, inspired by the great pirate Red-Haired Shanks. Along the way, he meets trustworthy companions like Zoro (played by Mackenyu), Nami (played by Emily Rudd), Usopp (played by Jacob Romero), and Sanji (played by Taz Skylar), laying the foundation for their epic adventure.

Characters previously announced for Season 2 include Smoker, Tashigi, Crocus, members of Baroque Works, Dorry and Brogy, Wapol, Dalton, Dr. Kureha, Dr. Hiriluk, and Cobra, the King of Alabasta, along with the actors who will portray them.

Charithra Chandran will play the role of Miss Wednesday, a member of Baroque Works. Chandran gained popularity for her portrayal of Edwina Sharma, the “diamond” of the social season, in Season 2 of Bridgerton, a Netflix hit that explores the love and aspirations of aristocratic siblings in 19th-century London high society.

Chandran masterfully depicted Edwina, who, despite her complex circumstances, showed a strong will to choose her own path with charm and grace. It will be interesting to see how she embodies Miss Wednesday and the fate that awaits her character.

Season 1 was set in the East Blue, where Luffy and his crew faced intense battles against pirates like Buggy and Arlong, and embarked on their adventure as the Straw Hat Pirates. With Luffy and his companions now officially recognized as wanted pirates, they each pursue their dreams as they venture into the Grand Line.
