[ONE PIECE DAY '24] Anime 'ONE PIECE' Sets Guinness World Record for Most DVD Releases, Crew Celebrates with Joy
The second day of the large-scale event 'ONE PIECE DAY '24' took place on the 11th. During a live recording of Nippon Broadcasting System's radio program 'Mugiwara Space' (aired every Sunday at 1:00 AM), the voice cast made a special appearance.
At this stage event, the following voice actors were present: Mayumi Tanaka (Monkey D. Luffy), Kazuya Nakai (Roronoa Zoro), Akemi Okamura (Nami), Kappei Yamaguchi (Usopp), Hiroaki Hirata (Sanji), Ikue Otani (Chopper), Yuriko Yamaguchi (Nico Robin), Katsuhisa Houki (Jinbe), Yohei Tadano (Dr. Vegapunk), Shuhei Sakaguchi (Shaka), Aya Hirano (Lilith), Ryoko Shiraishi (Edison), Tokuyoshi Kawashima (Pythagoras), Kaede Hondo (Atlas), and Mutsumi Tamura (York). Unfortunately, Kazuki Yao (Franky) had to withdraw due to health reasons.
The event kicked off with a surprise announcement: the 'ONE PIECE' anime has reached its 300th DVD release, earning a Guinness World Record for 'Most DVDs released of a serial anime TV Programme.' Mayumi Tanaka received the certificate on behalf of the cast during the live recording, followed by a commemorative photo. The picture captured the playful spirit of the crew, with Hiroaki Hirata mischievously peeking out from behind the official presenting the certificate.
Now in its third year, this year's event expanded in scale, taking place at Makuhari Messe and dividing into two venues: an exhibition area and a live area. The open stage in the exhibition area will feature a variety of events, including a fan vote for the best scenes from the "ONE PIECE" TV anime, a special stage for the UT × ONE PIECE collaboration, and a live recording of the radio show "Straw Hat Space."
