This decision follows the musical’s first overseas performances at the New York City Center in New York, USA, from October 11 to 13. The tickets sold exceptionally well, with all general seating sold out on the first day of sales, prompting the decision to stage the show in Japan as well.

"Attack on Titan - The Musical" premiered in Osaka and Tokyo in January 2023. The production combined the latest technology and stagecraft with traditional theatrical techniques, featuring the overwhelming presence of Titans on stage and incorporating music, dance, and action into a high-quality performance. Positive word of mouth spread on social media after the opening night, leading to sold-out shows until the final performance.

"Attack on Titan" is based on the manga of the same name, serialized in "Bessatsu Shonen Magazine" (Kodansha) from September 2009 to April 2021. The story revolves around humanity's desperate battle against Titans who devour humans, set in a world where people live behind enormous walls.

The dark fantasy centers on Eren, a member of the Survey Corps who dreams of the world outside the walls, along with the cool combat beauty Mikasa and the intellectual Armin.

The manga, beloved worldwide, surpassed 140 million copies in circulation (both physical and digital) as of December 2019, and has won numerous manga awards. It was also adapted into a TV anime, and a live-action film starring Haruma Miura was released in two parts in 2015. A Hollywood live-action film adaptation has also been announced.

Comments from Kurumu Okamiya, Eren Yeager:

"A Japanese musical going overseas! And to New York, no less! I am thrilled to be part of such an amazing project! It’s one of my dreams as an actor. With confidence and the wings of freedom, like Eren and the others, we will cross the seas and see the world. And now, we will also perform in Japan! I hope to convey the emotions, the strength to use power for someone else, and the courage to face immense challenges to many people. Please support us!"
