Hajime Isayama Draws Manga Other Than "Attack on Titan" for the First Time in 10 Years for Yuki Kaji's Project Manga, With Comments Included

A spin-off manga project from Yuki Kaji's 20th anniversary project, "Soyogi Fractal," has been announced. Hajime Isayama, the author of "Attack on Titan," in which Kaji starred as the voice of Eren, will be responsible for the storyboard of the spin-off one-shot manga. This special one-shot is scheduled to be published this summer in either "Weekly Shonen Magazine" or "Bessatsu Shonen Magazine."

"Soyogi Fractal" is a character project centered around the voice synthesis software "Bansoyogi," based on Yuki Kaji's voice. Kaji himself planned the project with the desire to create a place where people, professional or amateur, who want to create something interesting can do so freely with like-minded friends. The project aims to be an ideal form of a creative unit, where creators sharing the same ideals come together to produce works, which, when viewed from above, should weave into a completely new form like a fractal pattern.

With the launch of this spin-off manga project, a call for artists to take on the drawing responsibilities has been made. Yuki Kaji provides the original idea, and Hajime Isayama handles the storyboard for the spin-off manga, which is open to both professionals and amateurs without any restrictions. It will be a one-shot manga, not a series. The application period is from the 3rd to the 30th.

■ Yuki Kaji's Comment:

"This is a great opportunity! Don't let it slip by!! Let's make history together." "Soyogi Fractal" is a project I have staked my life on. For its memorable first original work, I could think of no one better than the respected Hajime Isayama-sensei, to whom I have entrusted this project. I am deeply grateful to Isayama-sensei for his gracious acceptance.

■ Hajime Isayama's Comment:

I'm participating in this project at Kaji-san's invitation. It's been about ten years since I last drew a manga other than "Attack on Titan," and I'm reminded of how difficult drawing manga can be. However, since I'm not the one doing the actual drawing, I can afford to design as many complicated compositions as I like and leave the trouble to someone else, which is fantastic.
