Kagurabachi Manga to Take Temporary Hiatus, Set to Resume in August; Editorial Team Says Break Will Help Ensure Stable Serialization

Kagurabachi, the hit manga by Takeru Hokazono, will go on hiatus beginning with Weekly Shonen Jump Issue #31, scheduled for release on June 29. According to the editorial department, the series is expected to resume serialization in August.

Kagurabachi Takes a Temporary Break

The announcement was made through the series' official X account, where the Weekly Shonen Jump editorial team addressed readers directly.

"Thank you as always for reading Kagurabachi. Starting with Weekly Shonen Jump Issue #31, released on June 29, Kagurabachi will be taking a hiatus."

The statement further explained that although creator Takeru Hokazono wished to continue working on the series, discussions between the author and editorial staff led to the decision to take a temporary break.

"After extensive discussions, we have decided that Mr. Hokazono will take some time off so that we can continue delivering the series in a stable manner going forward. We currently plan to resume serialization around August. Thank you for your continued support of Kagurabachi."

Recent Health Concerns

While no specific reason for the hiatus was disclosed, the series had previously taken a break in May due to the author's sudden illness. At that time, the official account announced that Kagurabachi, originally scheduled to appear in Weekly Shonen Jump Issue #25, would be postponed, with the next chapter instead appearing in Issue #26.

About Kagurabachi

Kagurabachi follows Chihiro Rokuhira, a young aspiring swordsmith who embarks on a quest for revenge after his father is murdered. Once living a peaceful life while training under his father, Chihiro's world is shattered when the mysterious sorcerer organization Hishaku attacks.

The group steals six legendary Enchanted Blades, weapons powerful enough to influence the fate of an entire nation, and destroys the warm everyday life Chihiro once knew. Armed with Enten, the seventh Enchanted Blade left behind by his father, Chihiro sets out on a bloody path of vengeance through a world consumed by darkness.

A Global Breakout Success

Born in Osaka Prefecture in 2000, Takeru Hokazono launched Kagurabachi in Weekly Shonen Jump in September 2023. The series quickly became a worldwide sensation.
On Shueisha's global manga platform MANGA Plus by SHUEISHA, the first chapter ranked No. 1 in worldwide views within a week of its release in the English edition rankings for September 2023.

The manga also won first place in the Comics Category of the Next Manga Awards 2024.

With more than 4 million copies in circulation, Kagurabachi continues to grow in popularity. Its television anime adaptation is scheduled to premiere in April 2027.
