New Ranma ½ Anime Announced, Details to be Revealed on July 17

A completely new anime adaptation of the manga Ranma ½ has been announced. The news was revealed on the official X account of the original author, Rumiko Takahashi. This marks the first new anime adaptation in 14 years since the 2010 OVA "It’s a Rumic World: Ranma ½: Akumu! Shunmin Kou."

The announcement on X stated, "A completely new anime adaptation of Ranma ½ is in production!!"

Furthermore, the official X account for the Ranma ½ anime has been launched, announcing, "A completely new anime adaptation of Ranma ½ is in production! We are adapting Rumiko Takahashi's classic martial arts romantic comedy into a new anime."

A promotional video has also been released, stating, "Details will be announced at the production presentation on Wednesday, July 17, at 6:00 PM."

Ranma ½ follows the story of high school student Ranma Saotome, who turns into a girl when splashed with cold water, and his fiancée Akane Tendo, depicting their daily lives and martial arts romantic comedy adventures. The manga was serialized in "Weekly Shonen Sunday" from 1987 to 1996, and the TV anime aired from 1989 to 1992. It has also been adapted into theatrical films and OVAs. In 2011, a live-action drama starring Yui Aragaki as Akane was produced.
