On the 26th, voice actor Yuki Kaji, 40, updated his official X account to reveal that he will leave his agency VIMS on April 8 after approximately 13 years and begin working independently. He will assume the role of Representative Director of a newly established company and devote himself to advancing his voice AI initiatives.

In a written statement posted on X, Kaji shared, “Announcement: I have decided to leave VIMS Co., Ltd., which has supported me for about 13 years, and become independent. Including my previous agency within the same group, I have spent 22 years there. It is truly the place that nurtured my entire career as a voice actor. I am sincerely grateful for discovering me when I knew nothing and was no one, and for laying the foundation for me both as a voice actor and as a member of society.”

Why He Chose Independence

Explaining his decision, Kaji stated, “The reason I have chosen the path of independence is simple. I want to further expand the possibilities of being a voice actor and continue challenging myself as an ambitious performer for the rest of my life. To achieve that goal, an indispensable pillar is the voice AI project Soyogi Fractal, which has now become my life’s work.”

He continued, “What I aim for is a reform in the history of vocal expression where humans and AI resonate with one another. As technology continues to evolve, I am deliberately stepping into its center and taking the helm myself. That is because I believe more than anyone in the value of the ‘soul of the voice’ that only a living human being can create, and I want to protect it. This challenge requires unwavering resolve. That is why I have established a new team and will dedicate everything I have to leading this project to success. Having left a place that has given me so much love over the years, I will prove through my future activities that this decision was not a mistake.”

Kaji also clarified that until April 8 he will continue working as a voice actor under VIMS. Beginning April 9, he will take a new step forward as Representative Director of his new company. “I will continue to devote myself to voice acting with pride, responsibility, and dignity as always. I sincerely ask for your continued guidance and support. In pursuit of a new form of creativity that only I can create. This fractal, to the world.”
