The highly popular fantasy series From Old Country Bumpkin to Master Swordsman returns with its second TV anime season, From Old Country Bumpkin to Master Swordsman II, scheduled to begin broadcasting in July 2026. The series has surpassed 9 million copies in total circulation, and the announcement also revealed a teaser visual, the first promotional video, and comments from the main cast.

The original work is a novel written by Shigeru Sagazaki, with illustrations by Tetsuhiro Nabeshima. Alongside its novel format, the franchise has expanded through manga adaptations and spin off titles, maintaining strong popularity across media. The first anime season aired in April 2025 and gained significant attention both in Japan and overseas through exclusive global streaming on Prime Video.

Season 2 Introduction

Season two shifts its setting to the royal capital, where protagonist Beryl Gardinant spends his days serving as a special instructor for the knight order while also acting as a guardian to an orphan. As he adjusts to his new environment, Beryl faces fresh trials and challenges that test both his swordsmanship and his inner resolve.

The teaser visual depicts Beryl standing in a moonlit dojo, gripping a wooden sword, with a powerful confrontation scene involving his father, Moldea, also portrayed. The image emphasizes both the emotional and martial themes that define the new season.

The first promotional video offers glimpses of Beryl’s everyday life with his disciples, as well as scenes of Mewi Freya training in swordsmanship. The footage conveys a blend of warmth and tension, highlighting the evolving relationships and heightened drama of season two.
