New Dragon Ball Anime Announced as the Series Enters a New Arc: First Footage of Dragon Ball Super: Galactic Patrol Revealed

The new Dragon Ball anime Dragon Ball Super: Galactic Patrol (JP: ドラゴンボール超 銀河パトロール) has officially been announced, marking the franchise’s entry into a new arc. The project was revealed on the 25th during the large scale event Dragon Ball Genkidamatsuri! (Genkidama Festival) held at Makuhari Messe in Chiba.

A New Chapter Begins for Dragon Ball

The newly released footage displayed the phrase “Entering a New Arc,” followed by the official title Dragon Ball Super: Galactic Patrol. Visuals of Son Goku and Vegeta were also unveiled for the first time, offering fans an early look at the upcoming series.

During the event stage, Masako Nozawa, the voice of Son Goku, reacted with surprise to the announcement, saying, “Is that so? I am really surprised!”

DRAGON BALL is based on the legendary manga that ran in Weekly Shonen Jump for over ten and a half years starting in 1984. As one of Japan’s most iconic manga series, it has remained at the forefront of popularity. The comic series has sold more than 260 million copies worldwide and continues to captivate fans through television anime, theatrical films, games, and various other media projects even after the original serialization ended.

In 2013, the theatrical film series returned after a 17 year hiatus and achieved consecutive box office successes. In 2015, Dragon Ball Super, a new series based on an original concept by creator Akira Toriyama, began airing. The film Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero was released in 2022, followed by the television anime Dragon Ball DAIMA, which aired from October 2024 to February 2025.
