The LIAR GAME anime is set to premiere in April 2026 on TV Tokyo and BS TV Tokyo, marking the series first television anime adaptation. Originally known for its intense psychological battles, LIAR GAME returns in animated form to explore deception, trust, and human nature through a high stakes mind game.

While the 2007 live action drama adaptation aired on Fuji TV, the upcoming anime will broadcast on TV Tokyo networks. Alongside the announcement, the main cast, teaser visual, and promotional video were revealed. Saya Hitomi will voice Nao Kanzaki, while Takeo Otsuka takes on the role of Shinichi Akiyama.

The newly released visual depicts the brutally honest Nao and the former genius con artist Akiyama as they face the ultimate psychological game that exposes the core of human nature. The promotional video also offers the first preview of their character voices.

LIAR GAME follows Kanzaki Nao, a naive and kind hearted college student who suddenly receives 100 million yen along with a mysterious invitation to participate in the Liar Game. Thrust into a ruthless competition driven by lies and manipulation, Nao quickly finds herself in a desperate situation. With no ability to doubt others, she turns to Shinichi Akiyama, a recently released former con artist convicted of fraud. Armed with sharp insight and overwhelming intelligence, Akiyama guides Nao deeper into the abnormal game, where honesty is tested in a world full of liars.

The original manga by Shinobu Kaitani was serialized in Weekly Young Jump from 2005 to 2015. To commemorate the twentieth anniversary of its debut, the series is being adapted into a television anime for the first time. The franchise has seen multiple media adaptations, including the 2007 live action drama starring Erika Toda and Shota Matsuda, a live action film released in 2010, and stage productions in 2023.
