Comments from the Original Creator and Anime Staff
Original Creator: Shinobu Kaitani
This year marks the 20th anniversary since LIAR GAME began serialization in Weekly Young Jump. I am deeply pleased to announce its anime adaptation in such a milestone year.
The series originally began with the theme of ‘the importance of trust.’ However, 20 years later—with the pandemic and the rapid development of social media—it has become an even more difficult world in which to trust others.
In such an era, we bring you the LIAR GAME anime. Whether you’re someone who feels nostalgia or someone experiencing it for the first time, I’m confident it will resonate with you. Please look forward to it.
Chief Director: Yuzo Sato
I still vividly remember the buzz when LIAR GAME was adapted into a live-action drama. It’s hard to believe 18 years have passed since then.
I previously had the chance to work with Kaitani-sensei during the anime adaptation of One Outs, and I’m delighted to collaborate again on his representative work, LIAR GAME. Back then, I enjoyed the production process tremendously, and I hope to make this one just as enjoyable. I’ll give it my best! Please look forward to another anime based on Kaitani-sensei’s work.
Director: Asami Kawano
While the battles of wits and psychological games are the highlight, I was captivated by the drama, characters, and relationships that make LIAR GAME so compelling. With the support of experienced senior staff, I’ll work hard to bring out those qualities.
That said, I’m already overwhelmed by the amount of numbers and dialogue… Help me, Akiyama! You’re just too smart and talk too much!
Series Composition & Script: Tatsuhiko Urahata
I’ve been a devoted reader of LIAR GAME since its serialization, so it’s an honor as a fan to be involved in the anime.
I hope viewers will enjoy the various games, their intricate tricks, and the growth of the protagonist Nao. Please look forward to it.
Character Design: Kei Tsuchiya
I’m honored to take part in LIAR GAME. Starting a new project always fills me with excitement, and I’ll give my all to ensure Kaitani-sensei’s vision remains intact. Please enjoy the anime adaptation of LIAR GAME.
Sound Director: Kisuke Koizumi
The meticulously calculated strategies and verbal exchanges are exhilarating. Please enjoy being deceived along with the characters as they clash, cooperate, and outwit one another. I’ll put my all into creating a soundscape that conveys the tension and thrill of these confrontations.
