Yona of the Dawn Manga Concludes After 16 Years of Serialization
Yona of the Dawn, a long running fantasy romance manga series, has officially concluded, bringing an end to its 16 year serialization. The manga written by Mizuho Kusanagi reached its final chapter in issue No. 2 of Hana to Yume, released on the 19th by Hakusensha.

The final installment appeared as the cover feature with a lead color spread, marking the conclusion of a story that began serialization in 2009. Over the course of its run, the series built a dedicated readership and became one of the magazine’s flagship titles.

The story follows Princess Yona, whose life is shattered when her beloved cousin Soo Won stages a rebellion and kills her father, the king. Forced into exile, Yona grows through encounters with various people and gradually learns to face her destiny. The narrative is known for its focus on character growth, political conflict, and emotional depth.
The manga has surpassed 15 million copies in cumulative circulation. It was adapted into a television anime series in 2014, followed by stage adaptations in 2016 starring Risa Niigaki and in 2018 starring Rina Ikoma. A musical adaptation was also staged in 2024, further expanding the franchise across multiple media.
